The Kitchen Store Keeper is responsible for overseeing and managing the inventory and supplies within a kitchen or food-related establishment.

This role involves maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing items, ensuring proper storage and organization of supplies, and collaborating with kitchen staff and management to ensure efficient operations.

The Kitchen Store Keeper plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and availability of ingredients and equipment necessary for daily kitchen operations.

Responsibilities:


1.


Inventory Management:


  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming supplies, ingredients, and equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of stock levels, expiration dates, and usage.
  • Regularly conduct stock checks to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory turnover and recommend adjustments to ordering quantities based on consumption patterns.

Storage and Organization:


  • Ensure proper storage of items to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Label and categorize items for easy identification and retrieval.
  • Rotate stock to minimize wastage and maintain freshness.
  • Implement proper FIFO (first in, first out) principles for inventory control.

Order and Replenishment:


  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to understand their needs and upcoming menu requirements.
  • Place orders for supplies and ingredients in a timely manner to prevent shortages.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure accurate and ontime deliveries.
  • Compare prices and negotiate with vendors to obtain costeffective deals.

Quality Control:


  • Inspect incoming supplies for quality and compliance with established standards.
  • Remove damaged or expired items from inventory promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storage area to prevent contamination.

Reporting and Documentation:


  • Generate regular reports on inventory levels, usage, and discrepancies.
  • Communicate inventory status to management and suggest strategies for optimization.
  • Keep records of supplier information, invoices, and purchase orders.

Collaboration:


  • Work closely with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Coordinate with the finance department to ensure accurate accounting of expenses related to inventory.

Health and Safety:


  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to prevent contamination.
  • Follow safety protocols while handling equipment and supplies.
  • Properly dispose of waste and hazardous materials according to regulations.

Requirements:


  • Proven 3 to 5 years' experience as a store keeper, preferably in a kitchen setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and generating reports.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
