Roles and responsibilities of system admin
Network Management:
Configuring and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. System admins may also be responsible for troubleshooting network issues and optimizing network performance.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
Implementing and managing backup solutions to ensure data is regularly backed up and can be restored in the event of data loss or system failure.
Security Management:
Monitoring systems for security breaches, implementing security measures such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and staying up-to-date with the latest security threats and best practices.
Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
Monitoring system performance and resource utilization to identify and resolve issues proactively. This may involve tuning system configurations for optimal performance.
Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
Responding to user-reported issues and providing technical support to resolve problems related to hardware, software, and network.
Documentation:
Keeping detailed records of system configurations, changes, and procedures. This documentation is crucial for maintaining system stability and for training new administrators.
Compliance and Regulations:
Ensuring that the organization's IT systems comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, especially concerning data privacy and security.
Hardware and Software Procurement:
Evaluating and recommending new hardware and software solutions based on the organization's needs and budget. Handling the procurement and setup of new equipment.
Monitoring Licensing and Software Compliance:
Ensuring that the organization is in compliance with software licensing agreements and avoiding any legal issues related to software usage.
Automation and Scripting:
Developing and implementing scripts or automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and improve system efficiency.
Capacity Planning:
Assessing current system resources and predicting future needs to ensure the infrastructure can accommodate growth and demand.
Salary:
₹10, ₹15,000.00 per month
