    Job Purpose:

    The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), Core Components seeks an Engineering Project Team Leader to aid in the advancement of core engine components for Caterpillar's C27 through C280 product lines, encompassing diesel, natural gas, and alternate fuels engines.

    This role is responsible for overseeing the development and validation of core engine components and systems to support New Source Introduction (NSI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives.

    The position will offer technical expertise and process guidance to diverse teams working on a broad product spectrum, serving as either the team lead or process specialist to provide effective solutions to complex technical challenges.

    Primary responsibilities include offering direction to strategic programs that address technical issues related to Core Engine components within Engine sub systems across various Caterpillar Engines in this region.

    Effective communication skills are essential to collaborate efficiently with NSI leads, key product group teams, and strategic suppliers to design and develop components and systems that align with product group requirements.

    Clear and consistent communication, troubleshooting abilities, and strong technical proficiency are crucial for successful teamwork with diverse groups.


    Job duties:

    • Act as the local process owner for NPI, NSI, CPI, and cost reduction procedures.
    • Manage and supervise NSI, NPI, CPI, cost reduction, and strategy projects ensuring they meet established time, cost, quality, and customer value targets.
    • Take the lead on major NSI and CPI projects to ensure timely and budget-aligned execution in line with the product strategy.
    • Help prioritize NSI / CPI projects based on their enterprise impact and objectives.
    • Collaborate closely with Core Component US-based section leads for project implementation.
    • Identify and implement enhancements across different processes, executing strategies to address them.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to technical staff on NPI, NSI, CPI, and cost reduction processes.
    • Assist in program project planning within traditional product development cycles.
    • Participate in and present program status updates to key stakeholders and senior management.
    Basic Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant progressively responsible work experience.
    • At least 2 years of experience in component design or validation.
    • Proficient in Core Engine Components system & subsystems.
    • Previous experience with NSI, NPI, and CPI processes.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, along with excellent communication abilities.
    • Ability to troubleshoot component issues under tight deadlines and customer demands.
    • Self-motivated with strong multitasking skills to deliver optimal results under challenging quality, cost, and timeline requirements.
    • Proficient in program/project management and possess strong organizational skills.

    • Experience in leading NTI, NPI, or CPI projects with demonstrated results.
    • Prior experience with core engine components or engine sub systems.
    • Proficiency in leading consensus meetings for problem resolution.
    • Experience managing multiple programs to overcome obstacles and meet deliverables.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for creative issue resolution (NSI, NPI / CPI corrective actions).
    • Good mechanical acumen.
    • Familiarity with FMEA boundary diagram development, interaction analysis, and DVP&R.
    • Understanding of collaborating with other functions like Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations.
