Advanced Hardware Engineer (Obsolescence Management)

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

This position provides an exciting opportunity to work for Honeywell's Value Engineering (VE) and Component Engineering (CE) Center of Excellence (COE), which is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated for product sustenance through innovative engineering and strategic engineering solutions.

Working in tandem with GBE's Engineering and Procurement teams, the VE/CE COE is a global entity tasked with critical mission of enhancing product margins and driving productivity, thereby securing Honeywell's competitive edge in the global market.

The role would support component Obsolescence Management, value engineering and component engineering functions across Honeywell Strategic Business Units (Except Aero).

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

Drive flawless Obsolescence management through short term and longterm mitigation strategies on Obs. issues.
Identify opportunities and implement cost reduction (VE-CE) through Component Obsolescence Management
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teams to resolve Obsolescence cases and maintain a global Obsolescence Dashboard and status of all Obsolescence cases.
Explore and evaluate alternate components to drive reactive and proactive obsolescence management.
Responsible for all new component proposal and their implementation through collaborative effort with Engineering teams.
Manage and support new part creation and release process.
Responsible for assessing lifecycle risk of Obs. critical Components and mitigate the risk.
Continuous Process and Productivity improvements.
Collaborate with Component Manufacturer, Distributors and Sourcing functions to channelize PCNs/PDNs covering entire Component Data Base.

HTSIND2022

Experience and Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in electrical / Electronic Engineering
8+ Years of professional experience in Component Engineering, hardware development with work experience on Obsolescence Management.
Engineering Project/Program management experience is advantageous.
Prior experience in collaboratively working with remote/global team for new product development.
Knowledge of Supply Chain Management principles and practices.
Hands-on experience of value engineering and product cost reduction

Other Skills needed:

Good understanding of Component Life Cycle Status and related impacts on Product Development and Supply Chain.
Design-ToCost and Design-ToLifecycle techniques.
Components Testing, evaluation and qualification process.
Ability to understand design requirements through Schematics and Design Inputs.
Clear understanding of Component Change Management Process and PLM tools.
Strong Microsoft Office suite skills
MS Excel/MS Access/etc.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
