Position Overview:

An Accounts Assistant plays a crucial role in the financial operations of a company or organization.

The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the accounting team in various tasks related to bookkeeping, financial reporting, and administrative duties.

The Accounts Assistant helps maintain accurate financial records, handles basic accounting transactions, and supports the overall financial management processes.


Key Responsibilities:


Bookkeeping:
Maintain and update financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
Record financial transactions in accounting software or spreadsheets accurately.
Reconcile bank statements and other financial statements regularly.


Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process invoices, verify and match them with purchase orders or contracts.
Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve billing discrepancies.


Financial Reporting:
Generate financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Provide necessary financial data to the accounting team for month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Assist in preparing financial summaries and reports for management or external stakeholders.


General Accounting Support:
Assist with payroll processing and related tax calculations.
Help maintain accurate inventory records and perform periodic stock reconciliations.
Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.


Administrative Tasks:
Manage office expenses and petty cash transactions.
Organize financial documents and ensure proper filing and documentation.
Collaborate with other departments to obtain required financial information.


Compliance and Audit:
Assist with compliance-related tasks, such as tax filings and regulatory reporting.
Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing relevant financial documents.


Software and Technology:
Utilize accounting software and other relevant tools to perform accounting tasks efficiently.
Stay updated with industry-standard accounting software and emerging technologies.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Educational Background: A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not always required. Relevant certifications or diploma courses in accounting can be advantageous.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting practices.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high accuracy in financial records and data entry.
  • Communication: Good communication skills to interact with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with team members and contribute to the overall success of the accounting department.
  • Analytical Thinking: Capability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends.
