Structured hybrid role:

Introduction:

The role holder will support the TM Risk and Governance team, and ultimately, the Head of TM Risk and Governance in driving the overall end-end-to-end strategy and adherence to TM processes and controls via governance oversight, supporting the continued enhancement of risk management across Barclays' anti-money laundering (AML) controls globally.

Within Financial Crime TM, the TM Risk and Governance team focuses on supporting the wider function in its aim to provide TM services across Barclays UK and Barclays Bank PLC businesses and geographies, including to:

  • Collaborate with TM Model Owners, as well as Business, Operations, Technology, and broader Financial Crime stakeholders to understand key priorities for the Bank, and to identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Drive stakeholder awareness and understanding of the TM programme in its aim to continuously optimise alongside robust oversight and effective governance forums.
  • Facilitate the governance and documentation related to TM system changes.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of TM MI to provide insight on risk trends and themes.
  • Maintain and store documentation in a clear and logically structured manner with robust audit trails.
  • Embed the principles of continuous and sustainable improvement across TM Risk and Governance workstreams, aligning processes globally wherever practical.
  • Focus on risk and control themes within all engagements and deliverables, ensuring that any potential issues are proactively identified for avoidance or mitigation strategies.
What will you be doing?

As relevant to the underlying initiatives and deliverables within TM Risk and Governance:

  • Work with colleagues across TM, Business, Operations, Technology, and Financial Crime to develop, implement and optimise risk and governance solutions and capabilities globally, non-exhaustively including:
  • Issue Management: Ensuring that all confirmed and potential TM issues are analysed, understood, and managed via robust governance and communication.
  • TM

Risk Assessments:

Ensuring that an assessment of business/product risk is maintained, as well as the mitigating controls (both automated TM and non-automated) relevant to these.


  • Governance forums: Ensuring that key information is articulated and/or presented within Groupwide papers for dissemination and/or further discussion and action.
  • Technical project and release governance: Ensuring that governance documentation is prepared in accordance with technical deployment requirements.

  • Minimum educational qualification

  • Graduate

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Proven background in Financial Crime, e.g., AML and/or transaction monitoring.
  • Demonstrable delivery and execution, and embedment of risk, governance, and oversight frameworks.
  • Understanding of data, i.e., customer, account, transactions, payments, as well as system flows.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience of TM systems and processes, including an understanding of AML and terrorist financing trends and typologies, issue management, and governance requirements.
  • Experience of working within a global Compliance environment, managing endtoend deliverables across time zones, e.g., US to UK to India.
  • Demonstrable understanding of global financial crime risks and regulations, specifically across the markets in which Barclays operates.
  • Financial Crime, Compliance, and/or Risk Management related qualification.
