Description
Purpose

The overall responsibility of a Sr. Basis Team member is to provide support for all SAP landscapes and the various non-SAP systems connected. Support SAP projects and implementations.

Any system area that is not directly covered by a functional area (FI, SD, PM, etc.) is typically viewed as part of the responsibilities of the Basis Team.

The overall objective of the Basis group would be to keep the system up and running at optimal performance and support daily support of all SAP systems.


Requirements:


  • Strong experience in SAP Basis administration, with a focus on SAP HANA & ECC
  • Indepth knowledge of ECC / SAP HANA architecture, administration and performance tuning
  • Experience with ECC / SAP HANA backup and recovery, highavailability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Knowledge of ECC / SAP HANA security and access controls
  • Experience with ECC/ SAP HANA deployment, installation, configuration and upgrading processes
  • Familiarity with SAP HANA cloud and hybrid deployments
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Provide support for hardware and network sizing requirements to vendors
Install/Upgrade SAP systems

  • Develop installation and upgrade plans
  • Manage installation and upgrade tasks
  • Confirm system dependencies and requirements
  • Install SAP systems and Oracle database software using SAP installation tools
  • Upgrade SAP system and Oracle database software using SAP upgrade tools
  • Install SAP and Oracle software patches as required
  • Perform post installation/'upgrade configuration tasks
  • Understanding of SAP Cloud Solutions
  • Migrations to Hana solutions
System Layout

  • Design layout of Development, QA, and Production systems
  • Develop client strategy to support project objectives
  • Perform client copies and post client copy tasks
Backup and Recovery

  • Design or review backup strategy
  • Define or review required hardware and software
  • Implement and test backups
  • Design or review disaster recovery plans
  • Perform and/or verify disaster recovery rehearsals
Setup and Support

  • Create and maintain SAP print devices and/or connection to output management systems
  • Create and maintain connection to external fax systems (ie: Kofax)
  • Deploy SAP GUI frontend software for required clients
Change Management

  • Transport from Development > QA > Production
  • Troubleshoot transport errors and dependencies
  • Perform data dictionary adjustments as necessary
  • Perform program adjustments as necessary
  • Modify repository objects as required by OSS note
  • Maintain OSS connection for SAP remote support
Security Administration

  • Design security methodology security documentation and change control procedures
  • Create and maintain user functions and roles,
  • Support of Security requirements, id creations/removes/updates
  • Assign functions and roles to users
  • Lock/unlock users and reset user passwords
  • Perform security audits
Job Scheduling

  • Design scheduling methodology job definition and change control procedures
  • Create and maintain jobs and job schedules in accordance with functional team specifications
  • Create and maintain administrative jobs: spool reorgs, job log reorgs, database statistics updates, etc.
  • Monitor job and schedule execution
  • Third Party tools such as TWS a plus
Depending on the implementation, many Basis Team members function as the operating system administrators and the database administrators.

Database Administration

  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Creation of database table and indexes
  • Monitoring database growth and making adjustments as necessary
  • Database reorganizations
  • Patching database software
  • Capacity planning
Operating System Administration

  • Installation, upgrading and patching server software
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Allocation of disk resources
  • Capacity planning
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and shell scripting
  • 3rd Party Software Administration/Other Administrative Tasks
  • Develop installation and upgrade plans
  • Installation and upgrade of 3rd party software (ie: ServiceNow,Kofax, Connect Direct, Winshuttle support, etc.)
