Description

The Construction Site Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in new constructions, renovations, or repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Installation: Install electrical systems including wiring, panel boards, switchboards, junction boxes, switches, and light fixtures.

Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions within construction projects and carry out necessary repairs.

Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics to ensure proper installation and operation of electrical systems.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure all electrical work is in compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes and standards. Follow strict safety procedures to prevent hazards and protect all personnel on the construction site.

Coordination: Work closely with construction managers, other tradespeople (such as plumbers, carpenters), and architects to coordinate the installation of electrical systems.

Testing and Inspection: Conduct tests and inspections of electrical systems to ensure their safety and functionality before they are put into service.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all installations, inspections, maintenance, and repair work for compliance and safety audits.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an electrician in construction sites or similar roles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety standards.
• Ability to read, interpret, and execute plans from electrical blueprints and diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with other construction professionals.
• Physical stamina and dexterity for performing manual tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in electrical engineering or a related field is a plus.
• Valid electrician's license and certification according to local regulations is plus.

Work Environment:

The Construction Site Electrician will work primarily on construction sites, which may involve indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to the elements, and varying noise levels.

This role requires wearing protective gear and may involve standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and working at heights. The position may also require availability for emergency calls and overtime during crucial phases of construction projects.
