Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities.

Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business.

HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview:


  • The Engineering Technician performs singlephase & polyphase selfcontained or transformerrated metering work including installation, maintenance, testing, load setup and special meter investigations. Perform troubleshooting and wiring verification. Perform metering material handling duties.

Education:


  • Specialized Studies in Electrical Engineering
    Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs a combination of duties such as:
  • Designing, developing, and constructing test facilities, devices, or equipment.
  • Planning or assists in planning tests to evaluate product performance; determines test requirements, equipment modifications, and test procedures; analyzes and evaluates data.
  • Interpreting schematics, layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, etc.
  • Building and preparing samples for test.
  • Perform a variety of tasks including electrical and mechanical work in installing, testing, calibrating, and repairing electric watthour meters and other related electrical instruments.
  • Requires mínimal supervision in performing lab tasks and prioritizing assignments, completing tasks thoroughly and to established schedule.
  • Thorough working knowledge of complex test and troubleshooting equipment and techniques
  • Initializes and updates test/information procedures

Skills and Experience:


  • Diploma or Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 years' experience working as an Engineering Technician.
  • Prior experience with electrical schematics, electrical troubleshooting, and installations. Familiarity with watthour metering and associated equipment including installing, testing, troubleshooting, and programming of meters.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution systems, e.g., different service types and voltages.
  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skilled in the use of common electronics lab test equipment.
  • Skilled in the following technologies: Electromechanical & Electronics, Standardization, Test Facilities, Product Software, Equipment software and understanding of other technologies.
  • Proficient in Quality Control procedures and practices, industry standards and regulatory compliance.
