Operations Intelligence & Command (OIC)'s purpose is to ensure Shell's critical business processes are supported by stable IT systems, allowing our business colleagues to execute their processes without significant interruption caused by IT systems.

We do this by delivering monitoring services for Business Critical Landscapes, proactive day-to-day operations including major incident management, enterprise recovery capabilities and operational excellence in the execution of our ITIL processes.


What's the role?

Accountabilities:


Reporting to the Planning & Integration Manager, the IT Advisor role is a visible integrator position to embed a consistent brand across the organization, and within IDSO and IDT.

This role will act as driving force, voice and face of OIC's engagement agenda.

Aligned to the IDSO strategy, you will ensure stakeholders receive customer centric, fit for purpose and clear messaging as part of an integrated engagement and communications strategy.

You will also maintain a trusted network within OIC (and IDSO & IDT), especially with line leaders, and consistently monitor employee engagement levels.


  • Plan and coordinate internal, external stakeholder engagements. Engagements will vary from, Vice Presidents, General Managers, Directors of our external Suppliers, Partners and Staff.
  • Develop context for executive communication and decision making, and support staff engagement and marketing approaches ensuring key stakeholders are affectively engaged
  • Trusted advisor and thinking partner with OIC GM and LT to address top priorities from a people and change perspective
  • Shape, prepare and facilitate weekly OIC LT meetings, LT F2F meetings, ELT meetings and all staff webcasts and tracking actions to closure
  • Serve as an integrator, continually informed on OICs agenda and value delivery across the organization. Establish connections, both people and communications, across OIC and broader IDSO/IDT strategic initiatives.

What we need from you?

  • Typical years of experience: 9+ years in IT with some IT delivery experience

This role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking and interpersonal skills:

  • Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to integrate multiple concerns, perspectives, ideas and requirements into a coherent strategic communication
  • Strong creative and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data sources to drive business decision making
  • Strong delivery focus, keen to produce at required (fast) pace quality proposals and artifacts that reflect strong executive level verbal and written communication skills
  • Helicopter vision
- ability to dive into detail but keep the big picture in constant view; excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Ability to interact with confidence and authority and operate at both strategic level with senior leaders, and detailed level with implementation and operational teams
  • Strong executive storytelling capabilities
  • Exceptional organization skills and ability to juggle many simultaneous demands
  • Operating in an environment where major issues can materialize quickly and must be handled often instantly, professionally, and effectively. Senior level escalation may be required, and work priorities can change regularly
  • Ability to work through others; ability to operate with other senior leaders in the OIC team, SOMs and IDSO transformation engine
  • Virtual working in global environment with culturally diverse teams
