Job Description Introduction**Are you a passionate system architect with a talent for defining and supervising power electronics prototypes and reference designs?
If so, we want you on our expanding Power System and Solution Marketing Team

We are seeking a highly motivated, talented and experienced Power System Architect to play a pivotal role in the development of our next-generation power electronics systems, from concept to reference design and physical prototyping.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for the entire proof-of-concept lifecycle, from defining the architecture and selecting suitable parts to supervising the integration of both hardware and software.

Deep knowledge in Power Management, PCB design, and power systems tests and lab validation will make you successful in this role.

Exceptional communication skills will help you working with Hardware & Software Engineers to ensure smooth system integration, in our worldwide, customer-oriented, expanding team.

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent between office, test & validation laboratory and working from home.

Role Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Define complex power electronics system architectures kW) which meet electrical performances, reliability, and cost requirements.
  • Perform tradeoff studies and select optimal solution in regards of system size (i.e., power density), cost and performances.
  • Develop detailed system specifications and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Select the best Renesas Power Products among released and sampled ICs to meet system requirements and resolve customers' technical issues.
  • Breakdown large and complex power electronic systems into modular and scalable subsystems.
  • Modelling and simulation of complex power electronics systems in MATLAB Simulink (preferred systemsimulation tool).
  • Lead the development of ProofofConcept Boards from schematic implementation to system validation stages.
  • Effectively manage project timelines, engineering resources and budget.
  • Monitor market trends and contribute to both Solutions and IC design roadmap for Energy & Grid Systems and Power Products (Voltage Regulators, Power Supply Controllers, Gate-Drivers, Discrete Power Switches).
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (e.g., Power Product design, both Hardware and Software development team, external vendors) to ensure seamless system integration.

Qualifications

  • MSEE is required, PhD is a plus, with 12+ years of relevant experience in Power Systems kW) design and development.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading the development of complex power electronics system design and physical prototype validation.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Proficient with conducting feasibility studies to compare electrical performances, Bill of Materials (BOM), and cost of various power converter designs or system solutions.
  • Indepth knowledge of power conversion topologies (AC-DC, Inverter, Isolated DC-DC converters, LDO, Switching Mode Power Supply like Buck, Boost and Buck-Boost DC-DC converters), magnetics, control theory, and discrete power devices (MOSFET, IGBT, GaN).
  • Proficient with power electronics simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB Simulink, SIMetrix/Simplis, SPICE, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work crossfunctionally with a wide range of worldwide groups including FAEs, Sales, Power ICs design teams, Hardware and Software engineers, Product Marketing Manager, etc.
