    Description

    Research and Development

    • Execute all the R&D projects into scale-up and tech transfer phase by strictly adhering to the "Stage Gate Process". Conceptualize lab process at commercial scale to identify show-stoppers/concerns in MOC/safety/operational/cost aspects.
    • Apply chemical engineering principles and models (reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and mixing effects) to resolve the show-stoppers/concerns; and develop scalable and robust processes.
    • Carry out design of experiments (DOE), use scaleup software like Visimix, DynoChem, collect and analyze data and present solutions to R&D teams.
    • Generate engineering data in the lab for supporting scale-up activities (reaction kinetics, optimization, crystallization, distillation, filtration, drying)
    • During lab process optimization phase, suggest the experiments to generate engineering, data points as per the agreed-upon format of Lab Development Report
    • Throughout the process optimization phase in Mini-Plant/ Pilot Plant, drive process development initiatives and is responsible for generating data as per the agreed-upon format of Technology Dossier.
    • Spearhead the root cause analysis investigations related to product and process failures during pilot or manufacturing stage.
    • Support synthesis team in deriving paper costing for the project by providing utility/effluent treatment costing.
    • Responsible for tech transfer activities and report generation and stay updated with new technologies and innovations in the field.
    • Candidate with relevant experience in R&D from process to scale up to plant.
    • In depth knowledge of scientific development of process, process intensification, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Studies.
    • In depth experience and understanding of Unit process & Unit operations (Mixing, Distillation, Crystallisation, etc.) as well as unit calculations (Mass Energy Balance & Material Balance)
    • Understanding chemistry, Process Flow Diagrams, Process & Utility, P&I diagram.
    • Profile is mix of R&D and TSD function.

    Collaboration

    • Collaborate with group leader R&D during the lab process optimization and preparation of technology dossier.
    • Collaborate with safety and environment labs for developing a safe robust and economically viable process for commercialization.
    • Collaborate with Group Leader Technical Services for designing Mini-Plant, planning and execution of Mini-Plant / Pilot Plant optimization studies.
    • Train the process engineering team

    Documentation

    · Prepare gate promotion meeting presentations

    · Assist group leader PE to prepare weekly project review presentations.

    · Design Mini-Plant and document the P&ID for a process as optimized in lab development report in collaboration with group leader technical services

    · Preparation of Mini-Plant/Pilot plant report (TTR/TD) as per the agreed format
