Role Summary
The CAD/BIM Technician role will include the creation and editing of drawings in compliance with WSP Canada BIM/CAD Standards, detailing practices and ensuring high-quality output.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for basic CAD and REVIT (BIM) design tasks as directed by the Engineer.
- Responsible for all drafting for a particular discipline.
- Review and monitor the production of drawings to maintain quality and accuracy.
- Creation and editing of drawings & sketches in compliance with WSP BIM/CAD Standards, detailing practices and agreed timescales.
- Completion of draughting tasks received from Engineers and BIM Coordinator.
- Coordinate and support the Complementary Resources Centers (iCRCs) BIM team.
- Generate sections / schedules / schematics from general arrangement drawings.
- Ensure drawings are issued, and filed in an appropriate manner.
- Conversion of drawings to other formats such as DGN, DWG & PDF if required.
- Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager.
- Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
- Develop expertise and stay abreast of developments in relevant technical field.
- Contribute to technical capabilities of the BIM team as a whole.
- Attend team and project meetings as required.
- Contribute to the delivery of the business unit strategy.
- Support the companies approach to sustainability.
- Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance service to clients.
- Lead by example and ensure QMS compliance across team.
- Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.
Key Competencies / Skills:
Mandatory Skills
- Diploma or Degree Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 5 to 10 years experience in BIM Architecture/ structure/buildings
- High level of proficiency with AutoCAD or Microstation Connect Edition 2D packages.
- Experience in producing and checking As built 2D drawings and 3D modelling.
- Ability to build strong working relationships.
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as being a selfstarter able to work unsupervised.
- Be an energetic, selfstarter and take ownership of your work
- Knowledge of Revit and Civil 3D would be advantageous
- Experience of having worked in international projects
- Canada experience is preferred
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
