A Business Partner for a mortgage business in India plays a critical role in strategizing, executing, and managing various aspects of the business to ensure its growth, compliance, and profitability within the unique regulatory and market environment of the Indian mortgage industry.

This position involves a blend of strategic planning, Fundraising, Investment arrangement, partnership management, operational oversight, and market analysis to drive the business forward.

Here's a detailed job description for a Business Partner in the mortgage business in India:


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:


  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand the mortgage business's footprint in India, aligning with the company's overall objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and potential challenges.

Regulatory Compliance:


  • Ensure all business activities comply with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, National Housing Bank (NHB) guidelines, and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and regulatory guidelines affecting the mortgage industry and adjust business practices accordingly.

Partnership Management:


  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, nonbanking financial companies (NBFCs), real estate developers, and other key stakeholders to source mortgage leads and expand business opportunities.
  • Negotiate terms and manage agreements with partners to ensure mutually beneficial relationships.

Sales and Marketing:


  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective sales and marketing strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
  • Leverage digital marketing, social media platforms, and traditional marketing channels to increase visibility and reach potential customers.

Product Development:


  • Collaborate with the product development team to design mortgage products that meet the needs of the Indian market, considering factors such as interest rates, loan terms, and repayment options.
  • Monitor product performance and customer feedback to make necessary adjustments.

Operational Excellence:


  • Implement technology solutions to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience.

Risk Management:


  • Assess and manage risks associated with lending, including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk, to maintain a healthy loan portfolio.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for risk assessment and mitigation.

Financial Management:


  • Monitor the financial performance of the mortgage business, including revenue, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is essential. An MBA or other advanced degrees in finance or real estate can be advantageous.

Experience: Extensive experience in the mortgage or financial services industry, with a thorough understanding of the Indian mortgage market, regulatory environment, and financial products.
