Description

The Senior Specialist - Nuveen Client Services conducts operational activities for the investment function, supporting the management of capital on behalf of pensions, endowments, corporate plan sponsors, and other institutional investors.

Working under limited supervision, this job executes various operational processes pertinent to trade processing, settlements, securities transfer and record maintenance.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Executes asset management operational processes including trade processing, settlements, and securities transfers, ensuring quality, accuracy and completeness.
  • Researches complex investment account issues and resolves escalated issues.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, communicating recommendations for further process improvement opportunities to management team.
  • Reviews financial statements and performance reports before they are distributed to investors.
  • Communicates with legal counsel and outside auditors on filings, examinations, reporting, and other related tasks as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with investment restrictions, laws, Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), tax codes, and other corporate and regulatory policies when performing operational processes.
Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

About the Role:


The position will primarily be responsible for the preparation and calculation of composite data needed by Portfolio Management, Investment Oversight, Marketing, Client Service, Legal/Compliance, and additional areas within the enterprise.

In addition to composite construction, the analyst will be involved in the verification process for the various Nuveen affiliates. The analyst will be involved in various projects which arise in support of the enterprise.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Support reporting needs for performance/daily requests, composite maintenance and calculation, and performance statistics
  • Ensure that performance results are compliant with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS)
  • Seek areas where recurring requests arise and look for ways to standardize these requests
  • Develop, automate, and enhance performance/composite reports
  • Work with vendors on performance issues
  • Support Verification efforts across GIPS firms
  • Utilize multiple tools (both proprietary and third party) to gather information

Required Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited fouryear university
  • CIPM or CFA Preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to perform tasks of high complexity and to modify processes, plans and designs as needed
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Skills:

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Aptitude for financial calculations and methodologies
  • Exhibited skills in problem identification and problem resolution
  • Excellent communication ( written and oral), with senior leaders and peers, facilitation, and collaborative skills.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Business, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics
  • Required Experience:
  • 6+ years
  • Minimum 4 to 7.5 years of Asset Management industry experience in an offshore operations environment.
  • General knowledge of investment performance concepts including calculation, attribution, risk statistics and GIPS.
  • General knowledge of investments as applied to Mutual Funds, Institutional, Wrap and Collective Investment Trusts.
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Working knowledge of Morningstar and Factset
