Division

LCD comprises of Legal, Compliance, Global Financial Crimes and Regulatory Relations.

The Global Compliance Department identifies applicable Compliance Obligations and maintains a Firmwide Compliance Risk management program, including Compliance Risks that transcend business lines, legal entities and jurisdictions of operation.

Global Financial Crimes is responsible for the development and governance of the Firm's financial crime prevention efforts across all regions and business units.

Global Financial Crimes is comprised of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-boycott, Anti-Corruption (ACG) and Government and Political Activities Compliance (GPAC) programs.

The Global Regulatory Relations Group (GRRG) is responsible for strategic and centralized management of the supervisory activities of Morgan Stanley's regulators and related developments globally, with a focus on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities.

GRRG serves as the central point of contact for the regulatory staff responsible for supervisory activities at Morgan Stanley entities and for timely reporting to Firm management and other governance or management bodies, as appropriate, on those relationships and supervisory processes, including areas of significant regulatory focus or concern.

Team, team description and day job

Private Banking Group Wealth Management Advisory Legal is a group within the Legal and Compliance Division of Morgan Stanley that provides legal advice to the various business units that comprise Morgan Stanley's Wealth Management business.

Private Banking Group Legal (PBG Legal) is a group within Wealth Management Advisory Legal that provides legal advice related to all banking and lending services offered by Morgan Stanley's Wealth Management business, including mortgage products offered by Morgan Stanley Private Bank, N.A.

(MSPBNA).

This role will form part of offshore Legal and Compliance Department in Mumbai and also PBG Legal.

The role will have a dual reporting line to a manager in the offshore Legal department in Mumbai and also to a member of PBG Legal.

Primary internal stakeholders include attorneys in the PBG Legal team and MSPBNA's mortgage group.

Review legal documents related to mortgage transactions for accuracy and legal authority, including:

Review assignments of mortgages to assess whether documentation is accurate and legally sufficient to effectuate title transfer;
Communicate with third parties and colleagues in Morgan Stanley legal to assess any potential issues or inconsistencies

Provide mortgage assignments ready for execution to the MSPBNA business;

QUALIFICATIONS

Monitor and manage mortgage assignment process to ensure that assignments are properly recorded and any required corrections are made and publicly recorded

Maintain and update databases related to mortgage transaction reviews to ensure that assignments are appropriately tracked through completion;
Maintain and manage any templates or checklists as needed
Legal Field Services is a group consisting of 2 attorneys and eight paralegals based in New York.

Field Services is a part of Branch Advisory Legal, which in turn is a group within the Legal and Compliance Division of Morgan Stanley.

The offshore Legal and Compliance Department in Mumbai is a department of the Legal and Compliance Division and provides support services to the Legal and Compliance Division.
