IFRS9 is an accounting standard which came into effect 1st Jan 2018 dealing with financial instruments accounting. The largest change delivered by IFRS9 is the introduction of an expected loss impairment model.

The IFRS9 Change Delivery team, managed by Group Finance Change, was established to deal with these changes and enable HSBC to report under the new requirements from the effective date of 1 January 2018.

Post implementation of the accounting standard, the team has now transitioned to a BAU function and continue to support new build functionality and monthly runbook processes.

The 3 main workstreams in the Programme are Wholesale, Retail and Finance which are responsible for the monthly delivery of models, data, systems and process.

The IFRS9 team deliverables are divided between individual workstreams, including impairment model development, impairment calculation systems implementation, and accounting system and process changes.

To coordinate and ensure these workstreams collectively deliver the programme objectives, a hybrid PM / PMO job role is required.


What you'll do:


The jobholder will work closely with the IFRS9 Programme Delivery Manager to manage the various workstreams within the programme and to support upward communications and stakeholder management.

Activities include amongst others;

  • Assist in ensuring governance is clearly documented, communicated and adhered to across all workstreams
  • Producing quality management reports (programme management meetings, steering committees etc.)
  • Preparing team communications
  • BFT Framework Compliance, Clarity and SharePoint updates
  • Manages IFRS9 programme RAID logs/tracker, annual Book of Work/Customer Allocation Method ('CAM').
  • Liaise with Finance to track Budget, support leavers/joiners, business continuity management and onshore contractor renewals
  • Managing and driving projects assigned till completion
  • Supporting the IFRS9 Delivery Manager on an adhoc basis.


The role holder will be reporting to the IFRS9 Programme Delivery Manager within Accounting, Financial, Tax Reporting Change ValueStream ('AFTR').

What you will need to succeed in the role**:

Experience / Education

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of planning and problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions to poorlydefined problems
  • Strong communication skills applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations)
  • Typical qualifications would include a HND or degree with equivalent experience and having professional qualifications would be advantageous
  • Excellent track record in programme delivery, typically in a coordination role
  • Experience with Clarity and Open Workbench
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders in a global environment is desirable
