Summary:

A Yard Manager supervises the day-to-day operations of a yard for storage of company equipment.

This includes assigning jobs to workers and monitoring their progress, coordinating loading and unloading activities, tracking inventory, and ensuring tasks are completed on time.

The Yard Manager may also conduct maintenance on machinery and equipment and proper documentation of maintenance, as well as updating projects about their shipments.

Overall, the Yard Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the yard.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure yard is neat and organized at all times
  • Stack, move and arrange items considering dimensions, weight and special handling requirements according to the safe storage manual
  • Oversee and coordinate loading and unloading of equipment
  • Provide direction and guidance to yard personnel in order to efficiently achieve yard objectives
  • Ensure safety of personnel and equipment
  • Control inventory levels by tracking and managing inbound/outbound shipments
  • Communicate and coordinate with staff, trucking/forwarding companies, shipping/customs agents and projects
  • Monitor and inspect trucks coming in and out
  • Resolve any project service/delivery issues in a timely manner
  • Investigate any yard incidents, accidents and determine corrective actions in order to prevent issues in the future
  • Look out for the environment by all means possible
  • Report to CTOM/DEME management on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Work in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers, forwarders, agents and the internal clients

Profile:


  • You are a good communicator and can express yourself fluently in English. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
  • Fluent in working with excel.
  • You are well organized, proactive, stress resistant and you are a team player.
  • Bachelor's degree in any stream
  • 810 years of experience
