About Tata Medical Center
Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative
for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and the
neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC)
started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital
is governed by a charitable trust - Tata Medical Centre Trust.
It is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained
professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and
the most contemporary medical equipment. The hospital was
designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm
from North America. It is located on 13 acres of land at New
Town in Kolkata, West Bengal.

Hospital, with a capacity of 437 beds, serves all sections of
the society, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for
subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. It
provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis and
therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support. The
Institution's objective is to excel in service, education and
research.


Department Description:

Tata Medical Center is a comprehensive cancer care hospital
with 450 beds. It has extensive laboratory and imaging
services, day-care facilities and surgical services. The
Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine has several
stationary and portable Xray and USG machines, two 64-slice
PET-CT, one 128-slice dual energy CT, 2 MRI (3T) machines,
a fully functional Cath Lab, gamma camera & SPECT, digital
mammography and DEXA services. All modalities are
connected by PACS, radiology reporting is done through RIS
and clinical as well as laboratory data is available to view
online through HMS. The department has 6 radiology
consultants, 2 nuclear medicine consultants, 12 fellows. The
department has considerable workload, with 13000 X-rays,
9800 diagnostic ultrasound exams including elastography
and contrast enhanced USG, 4350 USG guided procedures,
12000 CT scans, 1000 CT guided procedures, 3500 MRI
examinations, 3750 mammographies and 450 CathLab
procedures being done in a year approximately. Imaging
study archive is available for viewing from 2011.

funded research projects.
Multiple abstracts and Publications in International meetings and Journals

Participation in DST led "Make in India Project "to develop the first indigenous MRI in the

MD/DNB in Radiology and Imaging.


Fellowship Duration:1 year.

**Job responsibilities: **Rotational postings are provided in X-ray, ultrasonography, mammography, CT scan, MRI and Cath
Lab, with supervised reporting and hands-on experience in most procedures. Departmental classes
are arranged several times in a week, with active participation from the fellows. Fellows also
regularly participate in interdepartmental meetings and presentations, multidisciplinary team
meetings on various sub-specialities. There is good scope for research activity, and at least 1
publication is expected in 1 year tenure. A log-book is to be maintained detailing day-to-day
activities over the two-year tenure. The department organises several CMEs and courses and
fellows participate in organisational activities. Fellows are also required to teach nursing and
technician students.
