The Role:


This role will sit within the Group's shared service centre team based in India and will be part of the Group's Global Tax team, reporting to the Group Tax Manager based in the UK.


The role will support the global tax team on overseeing, reporting on, and assisting with the compliance and filing processes for statutory financials and corporate income tax returns, as well as providing assistance on various group tax reporting and compilation processes and reviews.

Initially it will also assist with some group finance team responsibilities although these are expected to reduce over a number of months so that the whole focus of the role will become the tax responsibilities.

Although this will primarily be a tax focused role it does not require tax technical knowledge. This will be taught on the job.

Accounting type experience is needed however to be able to understand and interpret company financials and use this to interpret tax return results.

Good communication skills, both written and spoken and in English, are also required as the role involves communicating with colleagues and advisors across many different countries.


Key Responsibilities:

Group Tax responsibilities

  • Oversee all group companies' preparation and filing processes for statutory financial statements and corporate income tax and related tax returns. This involves communicating with external advisors and internal finance teams to make sure timetables are agreed and information is exchanged promptly, supporting internal teams with reviewing, obtaining signatures, and filings. Monthly update and status reports will be prepared and submitted to regional finance directors.
  • Assisting with preparing and/or reviewing of tax reconciliations when tax returns are ready for review prior to submission, to assist the Tax Manager's/Director's review and approval of group companies' tax returns, comparing year end management accounts profits to statutory financial profits and to final taxable profit.
  • Assistance with rolling forward and updating the group's transfer pricing master file and all local files for group companies worldwide. This requires good written and verbal communication with internal finance and other teams to obtain yearly information on intercompany transactions, management structures and other statistics for each company.
  • Undertaking the first analysis and review of controlled foreign companies (CFCs) under UK tax rules including preparing detailed and clear workings for review by the Tax Manager/Director, to support disclosures in the UK parent company tax returns. This involves obtaining, reviewing and understanding company financial information.
  • Assistance with communicating with tax advisors to ensure the correct country by country reporting (CBCR) notifications are filed correctly and on time for all relevant group companies.
  • Ad hoc pieces of work supporting the global tax team generally.

Group Finance (temporary) Responsibilities

  • Assistance with the monthly Intercompany reconciliation process, a key activity for the group given its size and the number of transactions between entities across the globe
  • Assistance with the month end group close and consolidation, including preparation of month end files and the posting of group consolidation / elimination journals for each reporting period
  • Checking and verification of entity data uploaded into the consolidation system
  • Completion of ad hoc requests and working on ad hoc projects as and when required

Knowledge, Skills + Experience:

Experience:


  • Semiqualified / Qualified Finance professional
  • CA/ICWA/CIMA/ACCA/MBA or equivalent with 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting including working with profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, cashflows, accounting systems (eg SAP) and statutory financial statements.
  • Strong MS Excel and analytical skills, and good MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal to build relationships with colleagues around the globa
