Summary


In the RDP program, opportunities have opened for an experienced data modeler to gather requirements, understand data, work with SME's & platforms, and data architects to work on logical and physical data modeling on the new cloud-based Enterprise Data Platform.

As part of this modeling, we are taking the opportunity to resolve issues, unify product offerings and develop a target-state data model.

The modelers work within the program to understand the data, requirements, entities, attributes, relationships, timelines, priorities, etc.

Then, work with logical data modeling and the development teams to create the physical models and data representation as part of the enterprise data platform.


Responsibilities:

  • Analysis to identify data requirements, attributes, entities, and relationships gather data dictionary definitions,
  • Set up a session with SME and operations group to conduct a session for information related to data modeling and playback
  • Work with minimum supervision. This role will have additional responsibility for managing the overall data modeling working and modelers.
  • Understanding of current physical data implementation and work with development teams on automation and promoting selfservice for physical model
  • Understand problems and issues in the current architecture
  • Work closely with SME's and data architects.
  • Analyze the actual data itself
  • Follow up on questions raised by data architects.
  • Read and understand data models and ability to design, review and validate the data model.
  • Able to work comfortably with granular levels of detail
  • Able to Prioritize workloads

Deliverables:

  • Document data requirements
  • List of attributes, entities, and relationships within the scope of the project
  • Participating in the generation of the physical implementation of the data model
  • Flatten data model definitions as per the current process
  • Executing governance related activities, participating in reviews & ensuring conformance to standards

Skills and experience:

  • Overall IT experience with at least ten years with 5+ in data modeling programs.
  • Experience with data modeling methodology and data modeling lifecycle
  • Whole lifecycle experience from project inception, feasibility, design through to project delivery
  • Good understanding of financial reference and/or market reference data.
  • Data modelling skills and a working knowledge of the difference between conceptual, logical and physical models.
  • Indepth knowledge of database structures for reference data as well as methods of working for sourcing and capturing this data
  • Understanding UML and or logical data models are essential for this role.
  • Understanding of RDBMS's and proficiency with SQL
  • Stakeholder Management experience and skills able to converse with all levels of stakeholders to understand and extract the required business requirements
  • Problemsolving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborative approach
  • Organize and facilitate meetings & workshops and record actions and decisions
  • Exposure and understanding of different agile approaches and good working knowledge of analysis tools, including Jira
  • Experience of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect desirable but not essential
  • Experience in GraphQL is desirable but not essential.
  • Understand of Graph DB and concepts
  • Understanding of JSON, XML & Semantic Web technologies (e.g. RDF, OWL, SPARQL & SHACL) desirable but not essential
