Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Administration:
  • Provide visionary leadership for the Biologydepartment setting strategic goals and objectives in alignment withthe institutions mission and values.
  • Overseethe daytoday administrative operations of the department includingbudget management resource allocation and staffingdecisions.
  • Foster a culture of collaborationinclusivity and academic excellence within thedepartment.
  • Represent the department infaculty meetings committees and other institutionalforums.
• Curriculum Development and Assessment:
  • Lead the development review and enhancement ofthe Biology curriculum to ensure relevance rigor and compliancewith accreditation standards.
  • Monitor andassess curriculum effectiveness through student learning outcomesassessment and feedback mechanisms.
  • Stayabreast of advancements in the field of Biology and integrate newknowledge and technologies into the curriculum.
• Faculty and StaffManagement:
  • Recruit mentor evaluateand support faculty and staff within the Biologydepartment.
  • Provide guidance and professionaldevelopment opportunities to enhance teaching effectivenessresearch productivity and service contributions.
  • Foster a collegial and supportive work environment thatencourages collaboration innovation and continuousimprovement.
• Research and Scholarship:
  • Promote a vibrant research culture within the departmentencouraging faculty and students to engage in scholarly activitiesand pursue external funding opportunities.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations bothwithin the department and with other departments orinstitutions.
  • Ensure compliance with researchethics and safety protocols.
• Student Engagement and Success:
  • Support student recruitment retention andacademic success initiatives within the Biologydepartment.
  • Advise and mentor studentsregarding academic and career goals research opportunities andprofessional development.
  • Foster astudentcentered learning environment that promotes criticalthinking creativity and scientific inquiry.
• Community Engagement andPartnerships:
  • Cultivaterelationships with external stakeholders including industrypartners government agencies nonprofit organizations and communitygroups.
  • Seek opportunities for collaborativeprojects internships and experiential learning experiences forstudents.
  • Serve as an ambassador for theBiology department promoting its contributions to the localnational and global communities.

Qualifications:

• A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Biology or arelated field.
• Substantial teaching experienceat the undergraduate and/or graduate level with a record ofexcellence in instruction and curriculum development.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic settingpreferably in a departmental or programmatic role.
• Active engagement in scholarly research or creativeactivities with a strong record of publications grants and/or otherscholarly achievements.
• Excellentinterpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholdersand foster a culture of inclusivity and respect.
• Commitment to the mission and values of the institutionincluding a dedication to excellence in teaching research andservice.
