Role Purpose
The position serves the following purpose


  • Managing Backup and Storage operations for Jio World Centre (All verticals) in coordination with
    JWC IT.
  • Storage management includes Incident, Problem, Access, Change, Provisioning, Patching, Recovery, Availability, Performance, Capacity reporting and Health Monitoring.
  • Manage the backup schedules, Monitor Jobs, Storage units, Policies and Replication/Deduplication.

Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities

Key Deliverables

  • Storage management includes Incident, Problem, Access, Change, Provisioning, Patching, Recovery, Availability, Performance, Capacity reporting and Health Monitoring
  • Review and monitor system logs and initiate proactive problem management
  • Managing and reporting on quarterly audit of related administrative accounts
  • Data replication, duplication management
  • Optimize storage performance
  • Volume/LUN Management
  • Reconfigure storage groups
  • Space Utilization Trend Analysis for the storage
  • Timely remediation of 3rd party SOC Incidents and all vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain CIFS/SMB and NFS shares, if any


  • Storage cluster management

  • Document and maintain procedures and support documentation.
  • Coordinate (with vendor and other teams) and participate in Hardware and software maintenance or upgrades or commissioning activities.
  • Firmware upgrade based on advisory from OEM, SAN switch management, Proactive recommendations
  • Procedural handbook along with KB should be populated / updated
  • Should have handson experience with ITIL framework
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities like Server/OS crash analysis
  • Root Cause & System Log Analysis and reporting.
  • Capacity management
  • Creating, updating SOP documents
  • Continually monitor environment to ensure best practices and set guidelines are being followed. Coordination with 3rd parties and other units for resolution in incidents and problems and complete RCA

Problem Support:
This involves break/fix, configuration issues.

  • Participate in oncall rotation (as required) for emergency technical support and planned maintenance activities
  • Should be flexible to work in rotational shifts
  • Manage the backup schedules
  • Managing and reporting on quarterly audit of related administrative accounts
  • Review backup results and initiate corrective actions for any failures
  • Optimize the backup window
  • Implement and monitor backup retention policy
  • Manage backup scripts and dependencies
  • Backup log analysis and backup performance monitoring
  • Define and document technical backup, restore, DR and retention procedures
  • Confirm RTO/RPOs through periodic scheduled DR recovery tests
  • Tape asset management & retention monitoring (both on and off prem via tape retention vendor)
  • Backup Tools configuration and maintenance
  • Catalog maintenance and backup of backup catalog
  • Initiate reports using the Backup tool
  • Tape rotation, OEM support coordination

  • Ensure monthly testing of the restore from Backups (for server images, Mailboxes, DBs, Document Shares and other common user data on Servers)
  • Vendor coordination for Storage, Veritas and Tape management,

Interact with All Application owner and other domain team of Wipro and
JWC IT for day to day operations


  • For Storage provision and reclamation.
  • For SAN switch port allocation and hardware troubleshooting
  • Backup configuration for all critical servers and troubleshooting.

  • Hardware failure, Backup agent installation, replacement.
  • Firmware support.
  • Tape management.

Role Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • B Tech / BE or equivalent. Degree in IT would be preferable

Experience (Type & Nature)

  • Minimum 48 years of experience with Storage and Backup administration
  • Excellent knowledge with
    DELL EMC Isilon & Unity Storage
  • Excellent knowledge with
    Veritas NetBackup, Tape Libraries and Disk appliances.

Skills & Technical Competencies

  • Administration and troubleshooting on EMC Isilon/Unity Storage and Veritas backup.
  • Hardware troubleshooting on Veritas, EMC Storage and Tape Libraries
  • ITIL framework understanding.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Readiness to demonstrate a proactive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
