- Ensure compliance with the Mines Act, CMR 2017, DGMS guidelines, environmental and labor laws.
- Maintain all statutory registers, returns, and records as required under mining law.
- Ensure the mine is operated under valid statutory approvals, clearances, and licenses.
- Oversee day-to-day mining operations including excavation, hauling, drilling, blasting, and dispatch of coal.
- Implement and supervise mine plans including annual, monthly, and daily production targets.
- Ensure optimum deployment and utilization of equipment and manpower.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out safely and responsibly, in line with DGMS and internal safety policies.
- Supervise the implementation of the Mine Safety Management Plan (MSMP) and risk assessment processes.
- Ensure proper functioning of gas detection systems, ground control measures, and other safety equipment.
- Approve and monitor blasting operations and high-risk activities.
- Assign duties to subordinates such as overmen, foremen, safety officers, engineers, etc., and monitor their compliance.
- Ensure all statutory personnel are qualified and available on-site as per regulations.
- Foster a safety-first culture and ensure training of all workers in safe work procedures and emergency preparedness.
- Ensure the coal mine meets or exceeds its production and OB removal targets as per the Annual Business Plan.
- Monitor daily performance and adjust operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Report, investigate, and take preventive measures for accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences.
- Submit reports to DGMS and company management in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement an effective Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Ensure regular mock drills, fire safety audits, and availability of first-aid and firefighting equipment.
- Ensure proper dust suppression, water management, reclamation, and waste handling.
- Implement environmental management plans (EMPs) as per conditions of environmental clearance.
- Coordinate with:
- Regulatory bodies (DGMS, Pollution Control Board, Forest Dept.)
- Corporate management
- Local communities and stakeholders (CSR, R&R, etc.)
- Represent the mine during inspections, audits, and statutory inquiries.
- Drive initiatives for cost reduction, productivity improvement, digitalization, and adoption of best mining practices.
- Promote innovation and training to build a more skilled workforce.
- Applicant should hold a degree in Mining Engineering. preferably with a Post Graduate qualification in Management and have 8-12 years post qualification experience in the coal mining industry.
