OB PURPOSE:

Determine appropriate durable and perishable tooling for manufacturing operations, assist in the development of and implementation of mechanized systems to control tooling records and investigate and resolve tooling problems in the shop area.

This is a second level Tooling Technician position.

JOB DUTIES:

This is a staff position which independently or as part of a team, is designed to maintain or improve manufacturing engineering processes for Tool Design.

Discusses manufacturing needs with others and assists in determination of the most appropriate design of tooling based on requirements

Assists in preparation of designs for fixtures, tooling, hydraulic and manually operated fixtures, Tool set gages, various machine tools, etc.

Perform rough estimation for all type of tools. Directly contact suppliers for sending inquiry and getting quotations.
Completes standard testing and reviews output to determine if revisions are needed.
Help analyze alyses problems during tooling implementation and maintenance and assist with revision of design parameters to alleviate recurring problems
Conducts necessary investigation and accumulates data to help in determining the most appropriate functional design of tooling
Applies established formulas and computes dimensions, size of component parts, tolerances, etc. and prepares drawings of tools and equipment.
Investigates tooling problems that occur in the shop; confers with machine operators, supervisor, Technical Services personnel and determines reason for problem
Resolves tooling problems after design and redesigns as necessary to correct problems
Supports Tooling Design in all departments.
Analyze need for new or revision of existing systems that affect tool records. Prepare and maintain ISO records for Tool Engineering.
Fixture verification and validation to be performed for the available fixture on monthly basis.

BACKGROUND/

EXPERIENCE:

Requires at general knowledge of manufacturing experience and at least 2-4 years of experience in tooling processes and the ability to communicate with other technical personnel.

Relocation is available for this position.
