About the Job
Iora Ecological Solutions ("IORA"), a leading climate and conservation-focused organization, is looking for a passionate and visionary "Research Associate" to assist and support all Forestry and Biodiversity activities under the USAID - India Project - Strengthening Landscape Management and Conservation.
About the Project:
The five-year USAID project will be implemented with the Government of India (GoI) to enhance the management of ecological landscapes for biodiversity conservation, human well-being, and climate benefits, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved carbon sequestration, and enhanced environmental benefits for the country.
Through this activity, USAID/India and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) will strengthen management practices in targeted landscapes by: (1) improving the management of protected areas and their corridors for wildlife conservation and other ecological benefits; (2) improving inclusive livelihoods from ecosystem services and (3) strengthening the conditions for institutionalizing landscape conservation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Designing surveys for forestry and biodiversity assessment based on GIS and land strata,
- Preparing data formats for field data collection
- Plan and implement project research processes and methodologies
- Data Analysis based on research papers and reports
- Field data collection for biodiversity, forestry, as and when required
- Database management
- Statistical data analysis and report writing
- Development of project proposals and other project collateral projects, forestry projects, etc.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience.
- Master's degree in Forestry or related fields with 2 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of forestry operations and existing practices
- Basic experience in forestry modeling, forest management planning, and participatory forest management.
- Experience working in the field/ provinces
- Excellent communication skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Ability to work in challenging circumstances.
