These tools and dies are used to shape, cut, and form a variety of materials, such as metals, plastics, and composites, into specific shapes and sizes.

A tool and die maker typically has the following responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the dimensions, tolerances, and other requirements of the tools, dies, and molds to be produced.
• Select and set up the appropriate machines, tools, and equipment to produce the required tools, dies, and molds.
• Operate a variety of machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines, to produce precision tools, dies, and molds.
• Perform precise measurements and calculations to ensure that the tools, dies, and molds meet the required tolerances and specifications.
• Repair and maintain existing tools, dies, and molds as needed, using a variety of techniques such as welding, brazing, and grinding.
• Test and inspect the finished tools, dies, and molds to ensure that they meet the required specifications and tolerances.
• Maintain accurate records of the work performed, including the materials and techniques used, and the measurements and tolerances achieved.
• Keep the work area clean and organized, and maintain the equipment and tools in good working order.

A tool and die maker typically needs to have a strong understanding of mathematics, physics, and engineering principles, as well as the ability to work accurately and precisely with hand and power tools.

They should also be able to work independently and follow detailed instructions and procedures.
