    About Company:

    The Foundation of Science Innovation and Development (FSID) team with the Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru is working to develop a Class C medical device.

    About Position:

    We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer with over 3 years of experience in plastic product design and proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Ideal candidates will have a strong background in engineering, with extensive knowledge in design for manufacturing, 3D printing, and plastics molding. Experience in medical device development or similar fields is highly valued. This role demands a dynamic individual capable of working in cross-functional teams, with a focus on innovating and improving product design and manufacturing processes. A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields is required, offering a chance to significantly contribute to advancing healthcare solutions.

    Job Responsibilities/Requirements:

    • 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Product Design (Plastics).
    • Well versed in one of the industry standard CAD modelling software: SolidWorks (Preferred)/Autodesk Inventor /CREO/CATIA/Siemens NX.
    • Experience in product development with a background of Automobile/Aerospace or Medical Device Development (strongly preferred).
    • Must have strong knowledge of plastics molding, plastic product development, materials selection/procurement and product delivery.
    • Must have strong knowledge of 3D printing, design for manufacturing activities such as tool making, vendor development, management and production line setup, planning.
    • Prior experience with end-to-end product development and setup of production lines is strongly preferred.
    • Must have extensive knowledge in GD&T, and working knowledge of rigid and semi-rigid material mechanics along with fits and tolerances.
    • Must have experience working with cross-functional teams and NPD (New Product Development) activities
    • Basic knowledge of medical device documentation in accordance with ISO 13485 is preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of verification and validation test processes, ability to write SOPs, QC test plans and MDD process.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Diploma in Mechanical Design/Tool Making
    • B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering OR PGD (Post-Graduate Diploma) in Mechanical Design/Tool Making
    • Candidates with ONLY Diploma/PGD are STRONGLY encouraged to apply.
    • 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Product Design (Plastics).
