Job Summary:

The Automatic Lathe Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining automatic lathes to produce precision components and parts according to specifications.

The operator will work with various materials, such as metals and plastics, and ensure the efficient and accurate operation of the machines.

The role involves setting up the machines, monitoring the production process, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to understand specifications.
Select appropriate materials and cutting tools based on job requirements.
Set up automatic lathes by installing and aligning necessary tooling and workpieces.

Operation:
Load and unload workpieces into the machine using hoists, cranes, or manual methods.
Start and monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and quality production.
Adjust machine settings, including cutting speed, feed rate, and tool offsets, to maintain product quality.

Quality Control:
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Monitor the production process to detect any deviations from specifications and make necessary adjustments.
Ensure that finished products meet quality standards and tolerance levels.

Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components.
Troubleshoot and address minor technical issues to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with maintenance teams for more complex repairs and servicing.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of production activities, including quantities produced, machine settings, and inspection results.
Complete required paperwork, including production reports and quality control documentation.

Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
Follow company policies and procedures related to machine operation and workplace safety.

Team Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and engineers to address any production-related concerns.
Participate in team meetings to discuss production goals, challenges, and improvements.

Qualifications and Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in machine operation is a plus.
Previous experience operating automatic lathes or similar CNC machines is preferred.
Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and blueprints.
Basic understanding of machining principles, tooling, and cutting parameters.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments to ensure product quality.
Strong attention to detail and problemsolving skills.
Good mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Lift and move heavy materials and workpieces as required.
Manual dexterity and handeye coordination for machine operation and tool adjustments.
