Role description:


GT INDUS works in a collaborative environment which provides opportunity to its team members to take initiatives, seek on-the-job learning and add value to support the GT US Independence functions, including partners and professionals from the US firm.

The GT INDUS collaborates with the GT US to assist with various independence functions (e.g., independence compliance, relationship checking, etc.).

The Independence and Ethics Group is a National office in the Audit practice.

We are committed to high standard of Quality while managing Risk to the Firm, which is key in providing distinctive client service and deliver greater value to our clients, which includes our partners and professionals.


As an associate, you will be auditing and reviewing independence disclosures as per PCAOB and SEC standards of managers and above, located in United States and Bangalore office.

This control is a requirement by regulatory bodies to prevent, detect and mitigate risk thereby strengthen the firm's culture of compliance.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop an understanding of the Grant Thornton audit approach, firm policies and tools.
  • Execute or assist in executing components of audit under remote service delivery model in an effective and efficient manner by keeping open line of communication.
  • Managing multiple audits simultaneously, track progress, and report to local management their progress and any issues that arise.
  • Effectively communicating with peers, reviewers, and management
  • Identifying financial interests in submitted audit materials. Research financial interests using internal databases and the internet. Documenting the results of audit procedures and potential independence policy violations. Render a conclusion on potential violations identified during the audits.
  • Perform tasks using internal tools based on deadlines, written and verbal instructions in place
  • Perform initial review of submissions and evaluate completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of the requests.
  • Comprehend and act upon responses received.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions.
  • Be open to learning and adapt to regular updates.
  • Be crosstrained to assist with family tree research (as needed) or other independence functions at the SSC

Skills:

Bachelor/Post Graduation degree along with

  • Possess good internet research skills.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments and terminologies is added advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills. Must be able to communicate with contacts from around the globe and multitask various projects.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to exercise sound and balances judgment.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work under short deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Dedication to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work offhours, if needed including some holidays
