Structured hybrid role:

Introduction:
The role sits within the Market Risk part of the Model Strategy & Regulatory Oversight (MSRO) team.

The purpose of the role is to support the MSRO team in ensuring we comply with existing and upcoming prudential regulatory requirements, including those relating to our IMA (Internal Models Approach) permissions from the PRA and other regulators.

The role will support the oversight and governance of these requirements working with Risk regulatory SMEs and Risk stakeholders in Barclays International (including Europe, US and Asia) in relation to upcoming Basel IV requirements.


Activities of the team include:

  • Close and effective coordination with market risk managers, QA, Model Owners and other key stakeholders on Basel IV and associated risk regulatory related workstreams and initiatives
  • Support SMEs within the MSRO team in providing expertise and advice on upcoming Basel IV Regulations; supporting the ownership of the interpretation of specific parts of the Prudential Rulebook
  • Facilitating horizon scanning, interpretation and implementation of emerging regulatory requirements, including FRTB and Basel IV
What will you be doing?

  • Support the regulatory selfassessment process and ensuring that the assessment of compliance is fully documented and governance requirements are adhered to
  • Work closely with team leads and internal stakeholders to facilitate interpretation and implementation of new regulations and responses to consultation papers. As part of this, keep appraised of new and emerging regulatory requirements and support communication and implementation.
  • Support Riskled meetings with regulators through preparation of supporting meeting materials, and ensuring notes and actions are recorded and tracked.
  • Support maintenance of the central Permissions Library, ensuring that communications and correspondence from regulators are updated in the Library
  • Track the completion of regulatory issues relating to Market Risk including those identified by regulators and selfidentified issues
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise to provide guidance to risk colleagues and other stakeholders on matters related to market risk aspects of Basel IV and our Market Risk permissions under FRTB.
  • Streamline and enhance current regulatory processes, including related governance processes.
  • Support team leads in communicating updates to senior Risk colleagues and management on regulatory themes, issues and feedback.

What we're looking for:
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications

  • Awareness of prudential regulations related to Market Risk, i.e. understanding of Basel IV FRTB requirements and IMA model permissions.
  • Understanding of Market Risk and experience in related fields such as market risk management, market risk models, and market risk reporting.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Understanding of market risk regulatory requirements and ability to consider associated regulatory context
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Ability to summarise and present information in succinct formats for presentation to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Delivery focused highly organised individual with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver within tight timeframes
  • Strong control mindset, with a good understanding of the importance of a robust governance and control
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a wider team
