Safety Executive - R&D in our team based in
Mumbai:
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
6 Global Design Centers and 7 Cluster Deploy Centres operate from Mumbai R&D. The site has 4 Pilot Plants and 12 Laboratories catering to HC & BPC Categories. These Pilot plants and Laboratories are operated as a Factory Unit. The Safety, Operations, Hygiene and resources of Pilot plants are centrally managed by Operations Team. Of late, there is a substantial increase in R&D Projects. This is mainly due to C4G initiatives, CCBT action-plan along with ZBB initiatives like reduction in MPT.
Also, Site Security is a key function as it is vulnerable to many threats due to geographic reasons as well as R&D function.
Core design equipment with advanced technology are introduced in Pilot Plants, thereby adding complexity in overall machine designs and Operations.
Further to add, existing WoW are changed with new resource model.High risk operations like Enzyme and Percarbonate storage, Use of IPA in Cast Melt are also handled by Ops Team.
The strengthening the safety control of such operations by carrying out appropriate risk assessment is a critical. Every year R&D invests around 1.8 M€ Capex for Capability Build. In next Two years, the site has ambitious plan to invest ~6.5 M€ in a Big Ticket project.MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Workplace Safety
i. Conduct System Audits, HIM,THA, ERA, HAZOP along with stakeholders
ii. Prepare Audit reports with the Mitigation plan
iii. Ensuring statutory compliance of Plant & Lab Setup with Site SHE Executive
iv. Ensure ECC compliance

Site Safety Management
i. Prepare Onsite, offsite emergency plan
ii. Plan and execute framework standards for the site
iii. Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health
iv. Design and implement MoCS (Management of Change Systems)
v. Assist the site leader to develop and lead the ERT and safety committee, incident investigation and analysis
vi. Lead team of Executives and Staff to exceed site safety targets

Safety Systems
i. Interact with Category Directors and TPLs to lead safety agenda
ii. Understand UL safety behaviour initiatives and organize BeSafe Program for R&D fraternity
iii. Organizing Training courses and drills
iv. Auditing of onsite and offsite facilities
v. Participate in various forums like CSHEC, DISH initiatives, NSC summits
vi. Represent site in MCO/global forums

Statutory & Legal compliance - local governance
i. Meeting Factory inspectorate guidelines
ii. Liaison with municipal authorities
iii. MPCB officials
iv. Dept of Atomic Energy
v. Interact with Security Agencies to develop/upgrade site security

Reporting
i. Ensuring PAR for Safety, Environment and Security standards
ii. Monthly site safety statistics
iii. Pressure vessel and lift examinations, managing VVIP visits and audits

Quality Management Systems
i. ISO 9001:2008 Compliance
ii. GMP Standards
The job is responsible for all R&D activities at Mumbai. The incumbent must drive Ops KPI linked to Operations excellence, Safety, Environment and Health. He/She should possess good leadership skills. Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. The prioritization, effective communication and stakeholder co-ordination would other key skills required to perform the job. Good Processing and Engineering knowledge is essential. The person should be good in Bias for Action and Risk Assessment. The position needs to lead the group of 400 + FTE and 100+ Contractual Employees to driving SHE agenda. To lead such a large team, one should be self-motivator and effective team leader.
Skills, Qualification and Experience
- Engineering Graduate (preferably Chemical or Mechanical)/ MSc with Diploma in Industrial Safety
- Minimum 810 Years of experience in process Industry/factory (FMCG/Chemical/ Pharma)
- Proficient in Processing/ Technical knowledge
- Strong on people management skills
- Excellent communication skills, written as well oral
- IT Skills
- Proficient in MS Office
