    Toast Company and the Risk and Compliance Management role

    The enterprise risk and compliance management program at Toast is designed to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks across the company, fostering innovation and delivering high-quality products and solutions to meet customer needs.

    Toast, Inc. is in search of an experienced professional specialized in model risk to oversee the model risk management program, ensuring that the predictive, statistical, financial, and other machine learning models employed by Toast are properly validated, utilized, and compliant with internal regulations.

    About this Role (Responsibilities)

    • Design, implement, and oversee the second line model risk program focusing on critical models used by Toast.
    • Create and manage governance documentation for the model risk program, including frameworks, policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Define and enforce key model requirements and standards for development, implementation, validation, governance, and controls.
    • Establish a comprehensive inventory of model risks and associated information.
    • Conduct regular risk-based validations and monitor remediation plans for identified model risks.
    • Collaborate with various teams to challenge, validate, and enforce model governance effectively.
    • Report model risk management issues to leadership and relevant committees.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and enhance the model risk management program continuously.

    Do you have the right ingredients? (Requirements)

    • Advanced degree in quantitative fields like Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Financial Engineering.
    • Minimum of eight years of experience in model risk and data science within fintech, banking, or technology sectors focusing on credit risk and financial models.
    • Proficiency in machine learning, AI, and statistical modeling.
    • Strong skills in Python, SQL, and data science tools such as Spark, Scala, TensorFlow, etc.
    • Familiarity with software engineering practices and tools including object-oriented programming, CI/CD, git, and AWS.
    • In-depth knowledge of model risk management frameworks and practices.
    • Ability to understand business challenges, challenge methodologies, and communicate complex information effectively.
    • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Experience in leadership and mentoring.
