1) Job Context & Major Challenges:


Job Context:


Birla Copper has a copper smelting and refining complex at Dahej producing copper cathodes, cast copper rods, precious metals such as gold silver and selenium, fertilizers, and other bi-products such as sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid etc.

in multiple plants with different technologies requiring diverse competencies.

Besides having several process plants, the unit has a captive jetty, a Jana Seva Trust hospital and a residential complex for employees.

This role is mainly responsible for liasoning and maintaining cordial relations with various external stakeholders.

The critical aspect of this role is to effectively liaison with Government agencies and local authorities like GIDC, GPCB for land acquisition, support in forest & environmental clearances renew licenses required for basic operations of the Dahej unit.

2) Key Result Areas/Accountabilities:

Supporting Actions

  • Planning
  • Prepare a plan for regular meeting and engagement with the various external stakeholders and government authorities
  • Providing inputs to the F&C team with in the budgeting process with respect to liasoning
  • Operational Excellence
  • Engage with local village panchayat bodies to support in rural development and relation building
  • Ensure forest, GPCB, GIDC etc clearances as and when required
  • Budgetary Controls
  • Tracking and optimizing expenditure with respect to OPEX and CAPEX budgets with focus on consumable usage
  • Compliance
  • Ensuring implementation of health, safety and environment norms
  • Ensuring compliance of statutory and regulatory requirement with focus on statutes
  • Customer Centricity
  • Minimize the response time and improve satisfaction level for the customers
  • Sustainability and Process Improvement
  • Liaise with external stakeholders like village representatives, local government bodies, industry representatives and associations, NGO for smooth functioning of the operations
  • Reviewing HSE, safety
  • Proactively ensuring necessary clearances, documentation and approvals in matters of land, water & forest with a view of sustainable operations
  • People development and engagement
  • Monitoring and improving performance of own team members and recognizing the team
  • Ensuring training of all team members to enhance competencies, increasing safety awareness
