Monotype is looking for a Sales Tax Accountant to join our Finance team This role will work directly with the Sales Tax manager and Revenue Director to prepare and file Sales and Use tax returns, Value Added Tax returns as well as in ad-hoc projects related to various indirect tax laws and other regulatory compliance matters.

This position requires knowledge of sales and use tax principles; month-end close and reconciliations, strong organizational skills; effective collaboration and communication; and efficient execution.


  • What you'll be doing:_
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of state and local sales/use tax returns, as well as supporting documents to ensure compliance and balances reconcile to the general ledger
  • Assist in ensuring full compliance with indirect tax laws and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of payments/funds on a monthly basis
  • Adhere to best practice processes and procedures to ensure complete, accurate and timely delivery of tax returns as well as other taxrelated services
  • Collaborate with various teams within Finance for sales tax matters including data management of tax exemptions
  • Adhere to processes and controls to effectively track, report, and retain documentation for tax exemptions and tax audits
  • Find efficiencies in the overall sales and use tax process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and overall effectiveness in resources
  • Assist in the preparation and file B&O Tax and/or Business License Renewals annually, semiannually and quarterly
  • Assist in the preparation of reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of data, tax filings, and general ledger, establishing indirect compliance calendar and process to ensure timely filings
  • What we're looking for:_
  • Bachelor's/Post Graduate degree in Accounting and Taxation or related field
  • 5+ years' experience in sales & use tax/accounting, global tax/accounting experience preferred
  • Experience accessing US State/local municipality or tax authorities websites to file various regulatory returns (Sales, Use, Value Added Tax, GST, TDS)
  • Managing and improving the sales tax reporting process
  • Knowledge of US sales tax exemption certificates
  • Advanced level of skills in SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate with clients, staff, and management.
  • High attention to detail with outstanding organization and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to meet deadlines
  • Flexible to work in shift timings as per business needs
