    Position description

    The Reporting & Analytics team, as a part of the larger Business Intelligence organization, supports MMUS Insurance Operations by providing internal business partners with information through an industry leading combination of data visualization and business analytics. Plainly put, we help real people find meaning in their data to create positive impact. We respond to numerous requests for information daily while also proactively engaging internal partners; using data and analytics to drive improvement in MassMutual's business. We accomplish this by utilizing cutting-edge analytics technology to blend massive amounts of data into digestible pieces of quality and actionable information, giving leaders everything they need to make tactical and strategic business decisions.

    Key responsibilities and accountabilities

    Design and develop dashboards and visualizations that enable quick, easy, and intuitive insight

    Responsible for designing visualizations for operational, analytical, and executive use cases

    Integrate multiple disparate sources of data to form a coherent and business semantic solution

    Respond to ad-hoc requests for data and analysis as needed

    Interpret user stories and acceptance criteria to iteratively build solutions that continuously deliver incremental value to stakeholders

    Consult with business partners to understand business need and provide appropriate solutions

    Execute performance-tuning of dashboards and data sources to ensure maximum availability and usability

    Actively participate in data profiling and testing of newly modelled database structures

    Participate as an active member of Agile/Scrum Service Delivery Teams to achieve sprint goals

    Knowledge, skills and abilities

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field

    3+ years experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, MSBI, MicroStrategy

    3+ years experience with SQL and database technologies such as SQL Server, Vertica, Teradata

    3+ years experience creating reporting layer data sets and schemas that meet multiple use cases

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

    Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

    Experience working in an Agile, team-oriented, and collaborative environment

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Experience with the application of pre-attentive attributes in visual design

    Certification in Tableau, Alteryx, or other BI tools

    Experience utilizing relational and dimensional data models

    Experience in data management and exposure to ETL concepts

    Basic to advanced understanding of statistics

    Ability to work under potentially ambiguous circumstances
