- Wholesale Credit Risk, Lending Fraud is a specialist team within WCR responsible for the proactive forensic analysis of lending relationships in order to provide advice and to provide risk-based recommendation in support of approval/lending decisions across all sectors within Global Banking (GB) and Commercial Banking (CMB) large corporate relationships.
- The Role Holder will be responsible for identifying, scoping and performing reviews as well as providing subject matter expertise, as appropriate.
- Reporting into the Head of Lending Fraud.
- Assist in providing 1ts party lending fraud oversight for the largest and most complex relationship exposures in support of WCR Risk Managers/Approvers and Chief Risk Officers.
- Performing Lending Fraud risk assessments for complex Credit risk exposures, or those where fraud or accounting red flags have been identified (for example, short seller cases, negative news, account conduct, or repayment concerns).
- Assisting in building a team with Credit and Lending Fraud experience, including development of a Fraud
Champion network. - Assisting in developing industry leading policies and procedures
- The role holder will be assisting in delivering the Forensic Assessment capability in Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) to support first party lending fraud risk mitigation required for the large GB and CMB clients who represent the most material fraud risks in the lending portfolio (as defined by tactical and strategic tooling in place and being developed).
- The role holder will be in part of a of lending fraud subject matter experts and assist in developing industry-leading practices for the forensic assessment of lending fraud risks across the largest corporate portfolios in the Bank's wholesale business.
- The role holder will deliver assessment reports on major corporates with a specific scope to assess potential lending fraud risk indicators, through detailed forensic review of accounts and transactions, assessment of financial transparency and corporate governance, review of business model and relationship with third parties, and review of the nature, terms, and usage of available credit facilities.
- The role holder will articulate the nature of concern, discussing with senior management and influencing key decisions within the lending lifecycle.

- 9+ years' experience in Corporate Credit and Lending and/or Corporate Fraud Investigations
- Experience in relevant forensic investigations roles would be an advantage
- Experience of audit at public accounting firm together with a deep understanding of corporate reporting and financial statements
- Experience in delivering engagements with a sensitivity and an awareness of wider business cultures
- Strong accounting skills coupled with the "forensic mind-set", with detailed knowledge of accounting standards
- Advanced analytical and issue resolution, problem solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interface with team members across Risk, Compliance and business (GB and CMB)
- A strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis with some exposure or practical understanding of advanced data analytical approaches preferable
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-tasked environments
