These change interventions have led to smooth transition to the new IT landscape achieving faster user adoption and value discovery.
Kalai has 14 years of experience in end-to-end ERP project implementation and its sustenance journey in BPCL, a Fortune 500 Oil & Gas Company in India. As Chief General Manager (ERP Competency Centre), he was responsible for Organization-wide Business Process Management & continuous Process improvements, supporting 7,000 strong end user community in BPCL. Kalai played key role in setting up of the ERP Centre of Excellence, Process Forums and SAP Authorized Training Centre at BPCL.
As Project Manager, Kalai led successful Go-Live of ERP at Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd in 56 days, setting a new bench mark in ERP project implementation. As member Steering Committee at Sabarmati Gas Ltd. Ahmadabad, he guided the Management Team in completing the ERP project in a challenging timeline of 4 months.
As Head of Internal Coaching in BPCL, Kalai had facilitated 500+ strategic interventions and visionary programs which resulted in improved business performance and organizational agility to respond to change. Over the years, Kalai has been coaching many Business Leaders and Managers to help raise their self-awareness, improve self-confidence, unleash potential and advance in their leadership effectiveness. As a Coach, Kalai has also been grooming young talent and new entrants to the organization enabling them to discover their own potential and work on a self-created plan to leverage its power.

As Change Management Lead from Accenture, Kalai is currently facilitating Organizational Change Management in the SAP S/4HANA project implementation at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Mumbai with an objective to align leadership, create organizational ownership, facilitate smooth transition from legacy, faster user adoption and business value discovery.

Kalai facilitated change and value discovery in SAP S/4 HANA projects in various companies cutting across industries. His prime focus of change enablement was on change acceleration, faster user acceptance, smoother transition to the new IT landscape and driving value DNA in the organization through leadership enrolment, stakeholder engagement and mobilization of organizational commitment.
Principal, School of Sales & Marketing, Blue Star – May 2017 to April 2019
Kalai held the position of Principal for School of Sales & Marketing in Blue Star during the period May 2017 to April 2019. In this role, he led the initiative of setting up of e-learning platform for building functional and technical competencies of Sales Executives, HR Professionals and Dealer Executives at Blue Star numbering around 6000 spread across the country. The project has yielded enormous value by facilitating any-time, any-where learning for employees of Blue Star with substantial savings in cost, time and effort.

- Engaging and enrolling top/senior management in new technology adoption and roll out of strategic IT initiatives.
- Facilitating business benefit realization from new ERP/IT initiatives and process improvements.
- Providing support for ERP projects in BPCL Joint venture companies.
DGM (ERP Competency Centre), BPCL - July 2007 to March 2012
Kalai led his HR team and implemented “SAP Performance Management System” in 4 months’ time for 4,300 officers of BPCL through sustained organizational engagement and communication. Kalai also facilitated roll out of SAP Travel Management system and various ESS/MSS initiatives in a challenging timeline on pan India basis. He supported Finance team in new GL migration in June 2010 - a challenging project with huge volume of data.
As DGM (ERP Competency Centre), Kalai handled the following major responsibilities.
- HR and Finance process management
- ERP training for end users on pan India basis and induction program for new officers.
- Training and certification of Location Anchors who are the extended arm of ERP competency centre for first-hand support to location users.
- Continuous knowledge up gradation and up-skilling of 120 ERP core team members.
- Generating revenue from authorized BPCL SAP Training centre at Mumbai and through SAP Consulting/Training in India and abroad.
