Roles and responsibilities:

Leading the product & technology development program for Beer & Beyond Beer Category (e.g. cider, pre-mixed alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic). Developing the new product strategic direction & technology agenda, as well as ensuring that all the innovations and other key development/improvement initiatives for the beer category meet the requirement of the business.

Key accountabilities:

1) Innovation and product improvement

• Responsible for achieving the success criteria for new product innovations, and improvement projects – product performance/acceptance.
• Responsible for improving gross margin improvement targets, and on time in full delivery of all projects.
• Plays the lead coordinating role across functions in R&D: recipe development, researching and recommending new technology solutions, process development, packaging, system/spec, regulatory/micro & research platforms.
• Responsible for collaborating with the Innovation Manager, Marketing and Production Teams to develop the Innovation Strategy, and pipeline of new product and technology initiatives during next 24 months, for Beer & alcoholic beverages.

2) Beer Formulation Design & Technology Advancements

• Identifies new beverages & beverage trends and co-operates actively with external partners in developing future products – with a strong focus on "outside in" bringing new APAC, SEA and Global ideas and technology opportunities into the business.
• Expertise in understanding Beer & beer technology, plus cider and RTD pre-mixed alcoholic beverages (end to end) to deliver the formulations for innovation/improvement projects to meet the product success criteria and deliver winning products on time in full.
• Defines & establishes optimum formulation & technological processes from a consumer sensory, preservation, etc. as well as financial point of view.
• Partners with Innovation Manager and CTI (consumer sensory testing team) in developing the technical product/concept insight, leading to the successful transfer of knowledge into the formulation.
• Responsible for the delivery of sustainable and reliable laboratory development processes ensuring that products can effectively be scaled up in the pilot plant & mass production.
• Working with Brewery team for trial brews, and new product scale up brews, and responsible for technical results KPI's vs targets.
• Cooperates with packaging to ensure a safe and positive interaction between product & packaging (as well as the shelf life determined by packaging materials/designs).
• Manages and ensures all the components & processes of product formulations and claims are in compliance with the local regulatory environment.
• Understand and explores consumer habits, needs & identifies new consumer opportunities through the CTI team technical expertise.
• Manages, coaches & develops the Beer product development team, supporting them in project execution & career management/development.

3) Food technology areas

• Beer technology – formulation, processing.
• Brewing production – Certified expertise and knowledge.
• Sensory expertise - Certified expertise in flavor and aroma.

Your profile:

• Certified Master Brewer, Degrees in Brew Technology, Brew Science, Brew Engineering.
• At least 10 years experience and 5 years management experience in a beer product development function.
• Risk Assessment and Six Sigma methodology and/or experience are important.
• Team Leadership & people development, together with influencing and change management.
• Open minded, agile and problem-solving mindset is required.
