    Description

    Role Objective:

    The key objective of this role is to provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to both manufacturing and supply chain management functions thereby ensuring optimal efficiency, adherence to quality standards and alignment with organizational growth targets. By driving strategic planning, regulatory compliance, cost control, and fostering a work culture of innovation and employee development, this role will contribute to the overall growth and success of the company in the medical device industry.

    Desired Candidate Profile:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering is preferred. Advanced certifications in manufacturing management or quality control are advantageous, with a minimum of 20-25 years of experience. Prior experience in medical devices, especially with intraocular lenses (IOLs) will be an added advantage.
    • Proven experience in manufacturing operations within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry in regulated markets, demonstrating a strong track record of success in previous leadership positions is a clear expectation. This background equips the candidate with the expertise to navigate the complexities of the industry and drive operational excellence.
    • In-depth knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and other relevant regulatory standards is essential, for ensuring strict compliance and adherence to quality and safety requirements like US FDA, MHRA, ANVISA and other regulatory agencies.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, digitization initiatives (SAP – HANA), Trackwise, Documentum, etc., for seamless alignment of manufacturing goals with broader organizational objectives in driving the company's growth and competitiveness.
    • Exceptional leadership and communication skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts cutting across functions and geographies.
    • Proficiency in crisis management, showcasing the capability to make informed objective decisions under pressure and provide clear direction to teams.
    • Strong budgeting and financial management skills, ensuring efficient resource allocation and achievement of financial targets.
    • Collaborative mindset with the ability to align operational strategies with various organizational functions, facilitating cross-functional coordination in a dynamic business environment including interfaces with R&D on new product development and other facility expansion opportunities with project management.
    • Oversee validation activities throughout the project lifecycle (Blow fill Seal), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

    Role Requirements:

    • Direct, administer, and coordinate internal operational activities in line with organizational policies, goals, and objectives.
    • Participate in the development and promotion of short-term and long-range plans and budgets, recommending their adoption to management.
    • Develop and establish operating policies consistent with management's broad objectives, ensuring their effective execution.
    • Proactively identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to minimize disruptions in manufacturing operations and the supply of the company product profolio.
    • Monitor manufacturing performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to senior management.
    • Facilitate the resolution of interdepartmental issues, fostering a collaborative work environment.
    • Take charge efficiently during high-priority crises, ensuring direct management of company operations to meet budgetary requirements and control the cost of goods sold (COGS).
    • Develop short-term and long-term planning and budget development to support strategic business goals.
    • Establish performance benchmarks, allocate resources, and assess policies for the Tier-2 team to achieve higher productivity and capacity utilization.
    • Oversee capacity enhancement and growth initiatives aligning with business plans including interfaces with R&D on new product development and introduction into manufacturing, along with facility expansion efforts (Greenfield or Brownfield efforts) to support the future growth of the organization.
    • Foster operational alignment with other functions, managing the inventory levels and stock out situation along with initiation of timely and appropriate CAPA execution to prevent recurrence of the incidents.
    • Ensure production plans align with Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) targets, and invoice plans match commitments.
    • Lead the supply chain, logistics, and procurement departments, collaborating with various teams to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
    • Guide the team to identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, stay informed about global supply chain trends and geopolitical factors.
    • Identify opportunities for technology adoption and process automation, collaborating with IT teams to implement digital solutions for supply chain optimization.
    • Establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers and logistics providers to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

    Functional Skills:

    • Strategic Planning and Execution: Ability to develop and execute short-term and long-range plans aligned with organizational objectives and business goals.
    • Budgeting and Financial Management: Proficient in developing and managing short-term and long-term budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets and requirements.
    • Operational Leadership: Demonstrated expertise in directing and administering internal operational activities to meet budgetary requirements and control the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
    • Supply Chain Management: In-depth knowledge and experience in leading, supervising, and guiding the supply chain management, logistics, and procurement departments to optimize processes and achieve operational goals.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of regulatory standards, especially Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), to ensure strict compliance and adherence to quality and safety requirements including US FDA & other regulatory bodies/customer audits requirements resulting in successful audit/client outcomes.

    • Strategic Partnership Building: Proficient in establishing strategic partnerships with key suppliers and logistics providers to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

    Team Size to be Manage:

    • Position reports to the CMD.
    • Led a team of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management, collaborating with aligned departments and overseeing direct reports from AGM to Senior Manager levels with a total team size of 600+ strength and up to 5 direct reports across multiple manufacturing sites in India and International.
