The Opportunity:


Job Background

  • In line with other HSBC businesses, Asset Management (AM) has embarked upon a significant change programme focused on Data. HSBC Group Data Policy calls for Data to be owned, defined, managed, quality controlled and for trusted sources of data to be available to be used in critical processes. AM has a Global Data Organisation responsible for ensuring AM implements the demands of HSBC Group Data Policy and to manage a core set of Data Services for use, globally.
  • The Alternatives Investment Data Service (ALTS DS) is the designated data source of Alternative Investments data for HSBC AM globally, supporting regulatory, commercial and management needs.

What you'll do:


Responsibilities:

Domain Data Stewards have three main areas of focus.

  • Promote the use of their Global Data Services, within strategic, global and local initiatives
  • Continually scrutinise and manage the quality of data contained within their service, continually seeking improvements in data quality and the service provided
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure they have the best quality data available for their needs, expanding coverage and meeting ever increasing complex requirements
The role holder will report to the Data Steward Lead. Specific responsibilities are listed below.

  • Promote use of the Alternativce Investments Data Service to improve data consistency, quality and delivery timeliness across the AM estate. Work with Data Organisation colleagues to present Data Service capabilities and explain benefits
  • Promote the use of the Data Service on Google Cloud, drive consumers to engage on Cloud
  • Oversee all parties involved in delivering Alternative Investments data to ensure timely delivery to each consumer.
  • Manage requests from consumers for changes to their feeds, ensuring fast delivery
  • Work alongside colleagues in the AM DAO to support the Alternative Investments Value Stream
  • Support Customer Outcomes in issue triage and own problems to resolution
  • Relationship management with AM stakeholders and parties responsible for providing data, including holding service reviews and holding data providers to account for failures in the service
  • Ensure adoption of Group Data Policy within your Data Service, including data ensuring that all data points are defined, modelled, owned and quality controlled (data quality rules are drafted, implemented and data quality measures published)
  • Accountability for monitoring the integrity and timeliness of data delivered to the Google Cloud, incident handling and communication to consumers. Ensure communication between all parties is as robust as possible and responses to new requests are delivered on time.
  • Continually improve processes involved in managing Alternative Investments data.
Requirements


What you will need to succeed in the role:

Experience/Education

  • Good written and verbal communication skills the stakeholder community is large
  • Previous experience of working in Data Management; some knowledge of alternative investments would be an advantage.
  • Detail oriented and able to prioritise multiple projects and/or tasks.
  • Good analytical skills with advanced MS suite and SQL
  • The role requires an individual who is goal orientated, commercially minded, customer and results focused
  • Selfstarter with proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and be able to influence and motivate stakeholders
  • Experience of market data providers in general, and ideally ESG data providers
