Department Description

Cybersecurity is responsible for protecting the technology environment from internal and external security threats:

  • Application Security (through secure coding practices, penetration testing, and developer training)
  • Identity & Access Management (working to principles of least privilege, access appropriate to role, and Role Based Access Control)
  • Infrastructure Security
  • Security Engineering and Architecture
  • Security Application Support
  • Cyber Defence Operations (CDO)
Purpose of your role

The Senior Cloud Security Architect works within the Security Architecture and Engineering team in the Cybersecurity group.

The Security Architect is the primary contact for cloud platform engagement, driving interaction with core stakeholders including product delivery teams, Cybersecurity, and cloud operations teams.


The architect is expected to provide support to the solution design, ensuring standardisation and consistency in the definition of security principles, and ensuring that security is built in by design and complies with Fidelity International security requirements.

The role includes the creation and maintenance of supporting engagement processes, standards, and tools definition to underpin the growing adoption of cloud platform services, in a secure manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering in collaboration with the cloud enablement teams and cloud operations teams a robust and innovative security architecture for cloud platformbased security control deployments.
  • Designing security in from the start and supporting the organisation's Cloud First strategy.
  • Creating, reviewing, and enforcing security design patterns to support desired architecture.
  • Empowering enablement teams and cloud operations teams to achieve secure delivery underpinning the Cloud First strategy.
  • A cloud platform evangelist, passionate about driving innovation of security and IaaS environment.
  • Responsible for defining how Fidelity will utilise cloud platforms in a secure and compliant manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all cloud platform security designs, blueprints, and artefacts are maintained and adhere to good practice.
  • Acting as a point of contact for cloud platform security architecture for other Technology teams within the organisation.
  • Leading the assessment of cloud platform services and how they may be consumed in a financial services organisation globally.
  • Responsible for identifying and recommending cloud platform component design changes to achieve compliance with security policies and the enterprise security architecture blueprints and roadmaps.
Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Recent and detailed practical experience of designing security within major public cloud platforms such as AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Expert in the adoption of cloud platform services in a secure and compliant manner.
  • Understanding of offcloud technologies; storage, server, network, middleware, etc, and how they may interact in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Working understanding of regulatory requirements such as GDPR, FCA and other relevant privacy regulations and practices.
  • Team player, collaborator, and educator.
  • Able to operate with autonomy and build relationships become the "goto" person.
  • Ability to consume and define integration technology and patterns.
  • Concise and effective communicator confident with presenting to audiences at all levels in an organisation and will mixed levels of technical understanding.
  • Scrum/Kanban experience is desirable.
  • Indepth knowledge of the OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities is desirable.
  • Familiarity with NIST 80053, Cloud Security Alliance and ISO27001 control frameworks is desirable.
Qualifications/Certifications

  • Certifications in major public cloud platform security and architecture practices are desirable.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant technology field or significant relevant experience is required.
  • Security accreditations such as CISM, CISSP or CISA by a recognised body are desirable but not required.
  • Cloud security certifications such as CCSK or other relevant and recognised qualification are desirable.
