  • Support the implementation of HSBC data governance and quality guidelines, procedures, methods etc.

  • Create and govern relationships between data elements across different systems
  • Manage and oversee the whole data lifecycle, from record creation to disposal (Information Lifecycle Management)

Opportunity:


  • In line with other HSBC businesses, Asset Management (AM) has embarked upon a significant change programme focused on Data. HSBC Group Data Policy calls for Data to be owned, defined, managed, quality controlled and for trusted sources of data to be available to be used in critical processes. AM has a Global Data Organisation responsible for ensuring AM implements the demands of HSBC Group Data Policy and to manage a core set of Data Services for use, globally.
  • Many of the core data assets required by an Asset Manager are already defined, but these will extend with new business initiatives being planned. Additionally, other domains like Performance, Risk and Trading are yet not properly defined and will benefit from the structure and clarity Data Architecture brings to understanding data.

What you'll do:

Data Architects have three main areas of focus.

  • Ensure that Asset Management Data Governance processes support Group Data Policy expectations, roll these out to participants globally, and adopt controls to manage Data Risk
  • Work with project and change teams to design a data sourcing strategy for initiatives implementing new tools and processes. Ensure that new data sets manufactured have clear data owners and that the data set is clearly defined.
  • This is a Data Governance role that is embedded into the transformation being undertaken by HSBC Asset Management. This is not a theoretical governance and oversight role but one that delivers designs and architectural content.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, refine and uphold the Data Strategy. The Data Architecture function is responsible for ensuring that the implementation of the services aligns to the original strategy and supporting implementation change teams.
  • Support the Data Analytics capability which uses Cloud and Data Science methods and technologies to provide business insights.
  • Contribute to the design and ensure adoption in Asset Management of HSBC Group Data Management Standards
  • Publish data assets and data quality rules and requirements to the Group Data Dictionary, Collibra.
  • Manage and maintain Asset Management data models (conceptual and logical predominantly but also physical for Cloud adoption of core data services)
  • Work with project teams to facilitate the safe sharing of data cross border.
Requirements


What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • the stakeholder community is large
  • Previous experience of working in a Global Data Organisation and comfortable with Data Architecture activities
  • Detail oriented and able to prioritise multiple projects and/or tasks.
  • Good analytical skills with advanced MS suite and SQL
  • Business process modelling, conceptual and logical data modelling. Experience of Architecture tools like Visual Paradigm, Erwin or RSA.
  • The role requires an individual who is goal orientated, commercially minded, customer and results focused
  • Selfstarter with proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and be able to influence and motivate stakeholders
