RoleManages & coordinate with marketing from inception to completion the packaging elements & systems of packaging portfolio enhancement projects, cost saving project & new packaging vendor development projects for India subcontinent Monitoring & Benchmarking latest trend in packaging materials and technologies to identify appropriate opportunities for appropriate improvement. Will ensure that packaging performs & functions effectively & safely within the total product system for the benefit of our customers Will create & manage specifications & UN approval for new & existing packaging Creatively develops packaging solutions that integrate into larger marketing strategy & meet & exceed corporate specifications Will assist regional packaging R&D team in continuous rationalization of India packaging portfolio. To ensure:
  • Optimize current packaging for either cost effectiveness and/or develop environmental friendly package
Continuous auditing packaging vendors & improve quality system that will minimize packaging rejection at factory QC Evaluate new packaging vendors Identify off the shelf packaging systems/ solutions and approve them which will provide flexibility to sourcing team on sourcing packaging material at best price. Support R&D packaging for roll out, testing, compatibility studies & other packaging tests for regional projects. Support India QC to resolve quality issues related to packaging.
Accountability & key activitiesMaintain current packaging portfolio Product Labels & packaging approvals and compliances to packaging needs Packaging test support Identify new packaging solution & support R&D for evaluation Support packaging quality audits to minimize complaints. Key ActivitiesSupport packaging R&D to conduct various packaging testing & release report. Support procurement team to identify off the shelf options & evaluate them technically, seek advise from R&D wherever needed Support marketing team to create the label KLD Lay down Packaging Specification. Evaluation of samples for testing material compatibility. To conduct onsite Freight Quality Testing, Issues certificate & compliance letters to support sales & Marketing. Coordinates UN/ regulatory approvals to ensure compliance with regional regulations. Manages packaging development phase to a successful, marketable outcome. Demonstrating technical competence with the support of R&D development team Assist in making recommendations for filling & handling equipment for new packaging Imparts knowledge to the organization in the form of detail reports, seminar & trainings related to packaging issues Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned
Job Description:Functional Knowledge / SkillsGeneralSpecializedBroad knowledge of pack types, packaging materials, packaging manufacturing techniques Specific competency in corrugated, blow and injection molding, closure and seal interfaces and flexible films is preferred. Thorough functional knowledge on Packaging materials / techniques / testing and tools, assertive, persuasive follow up.

Key CompetenciesExperienceEssential Desirable25 years of experience in packaging development in user industry Degree in Packaging technology / Engineering or its equivalentGood understanding of packaging operations in factory Packaging lab management and practice competency Ability to work effectively with multiple functions, both internal (sourcing, marketing, manufacturing) and external (contract manufacturing, suppliers) Project management & time management ability Good communication skills Well versed with computer & design softwareExecutive involved in development, testing of new packaging solutions, interdepartmental coordination, market feedback and management of customer compliants.
