- Ensure users receive efficient service while maintaining standards and adhering to policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the implementation of new concepts and procedures, evaluating tools and materials according to hospital guidelines.
- Supervise the laboratory's scientific personnel and support staff.
- Collaborate with the laboratory manager and consultant microbiologist in overseeing the microbiology team.
- Enforce the laboratory's record-keeping policy.
- Manage the development, maintenance, and review of laboratory policies and operating procedures.
- Registration with CORU or eligibility for membership upon completion of studies or in the process of applying for state registration.
- BSc (Hons) in Medical Science from Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology.
- BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).
- BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from University College Cork.
- Holding one of the mentioned qualifications or equivalent is necessary.
- Completion of Medical Laboratory Science Certificate from DIT, Cork.
- Bachelor of Biomedical Science from CIT and BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences from UCC.
- Possession of NFQ Level 9 postgraduate qualifications or equivalent validated by ACSLM.
- Four years of full-time clinical experience as a medical scientist in a diagnostic laboratory post-qualification is required.
