Job Description:


Reporting to the Head of Bid Proposals and working closely with the wider ;regional sales team, the role will contribute to the development and implementation of professionally written proposals across APAC-ME market.

The main purpose of the role is to produce professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates smiths detection value proposition.

This role requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines.


As a key member of the regional bid team, the role will be primarily responsible for contributing to the overall submission of winning bids and proposals, as well as the continuous improvement of the departments capture planning and bid processes (people, processes, tools, information and governance).

The roles primary responsibility will be to write high quality bid responses for new tenders.

The role will work closely with all members of the regional bid team for introducing and coordinating the bid response process, developing and maintaining a knowledge base of 'standard' answers and templates, as well as identifying ways to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of the bid response process.

The role is based out of Gurgaon, India to support the sales effort, lead bid team and engage with customers and third parties.

Duties & Responsibilities


What you'll do:

  • Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members and key stakeholders.
  • Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Proposal Manager against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required
  • Rewrite / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, technical / product teams, programmes, finance, commercial, legal and supply chain.
  • Support the full tender preparation and submissions for Smiths Detection APAC-ME, services offerings, ensuring full compliance with bid management ;processes to deliver the optimized bid in due time.
  • Support the bid proposal manager and assigned bid manager (sales manager) to identify the requirements for each bid and ensure that all relevant business functions and departments contributing to a bid are properly informed of the background to the bid/opportunity, the pursuit strategy and solution.
  • Compile, edit, and proofread commercial proposals which contain technical content and designs ensuring that these are presented in a professional and concise manner.
  • Review and revise documents prepared by others and coordinate the preparation of those materials in a completed bid document.
  • Determine the scope and timeline of new bids. Lead and coordinate the preparation of the bid ensuring that other contributors provide information on time to the correct standard answering the client's needs.
  • Develop knowledge of business, its products and services by reading and review previous bid and design documents and spending time with SME, sales, technical and commercial functions
  • Review and improve other customer materials and develop a consistent set of standards for other commercial functions to follow
  • Interface with the Regional Sales and functional teams to develop commercial strategies, themes, technical discriminators, and innovative pricing strategies and solutions that will meet customer requirements as well as meet or exceed business goals
