What you'll do:
Principal Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
- Provide full spectrum of secretarial and administrative support to the Regional Legal Department of the Bank
- Manage travel, meeting, calendar, and itinerary arrangements.
- Coordinate with both internal and external parties according to the operational needs from the Legal Department or the COO Team.
- Assist in event management and project management when required.
- Manage document processes including editing and formatting.
- Perform adhoc assignments as assigned / requested.
- Support multiple stakeholders and prioritise tasks.
- Work with the COO Team to provide high quality of secretarial support and provide potential enhancement suggestion to current workflow.

- Where necessary, matters are escalated to the vice president for engagement
Customers / Stakeholders
- Be proactive in the provision of legal support.
- Ensure timely escalation to line management on any issues.
How they are achieved/measured
- Supporting the provision of legal advice that is succinct, easy to understand, and adds value by identifying the root cause of the problem and solutions.
- Evidence that the jobholder has taken the initiative, identified where added involvement from line management.
- Evidence that the jobholder has sought to understand the client's needs and achieved a satisfactory conclusion.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with team members.
- Participate effectively as part of the Global Legal team.
- Collaborate with and support legal colleagues as appropriate.

- Regular reports to and meetings held with line management.
- Provide clear communications to business, with support of Senior Legal Counsel.
- Maintain successful and mutually supportive working relationships with all members of legal team.
- Understand, contribute and make use of knowledge sharing and document management systems.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Comply with legal risk management requirements set out in the Group Standards Manual and Legal FIM.
- Comply with regulatory and compliance matters and the management of operational risk.
How they are achieved/measured
- Demonstrable understanding of Group Standards and FIM requirements on transactions.
- Follow appropriate procedures and controls to monitor, control and mitigate legal risk in relation to the jobholder's area of expertise.
Major Challenges
- Ability to adapt work style to meet varied workloads.
- Ability to prioritize workloads in terms of legal risk and commercial consideration.
- Maintain knowledge of HSBC Group operations and policies.
- Increasing ability to handle more complex tasks with less supervision.
- Ability to identify the need for further analysis and the need for a timely decision given commercial pressures
Context of the Job_ _
The role holder is responsible for giving robust support to senior management.
Role Holder is accountable to assist with the completion of a range of tasks which includes but not limited to:
- Strong and effective communications and inter-personal skills in English and Cantonese.
- Experience in the Banking industry is preferred but not essential.
- No legal background is required; it is a bonus if you have any.
- Experience with event management and project management is highly preferred.
- A good team player and willing to collaborate and provide support to other team members.
- Detailminded, fastpaced, and good time management skills.
- Able to work independently with collateral thinking to be flexible.
- Positive attitude and willing to move things forward.
- Good computer skills, well versed in MS Word, Excel and Power Point
Management of Risk
The jobholder is responsible for (i) responsible for giving robust support to senior management against the backdrop of both the external legal framework and the internal Group Standards Manual and Legal FIM; and (ii) assisting Global Commercial Banking
Observance of Internal Controls
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely compliance with internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

What you will need to succeed in the role:
Education and Relevant Experience
- Understanding of domestic banking and finance law and transactions. Administrative experience mandate.
