    Senior SQL Database Administrator

    Pune/Mumbai (Hybrid)

    Experience Level: 5+ years relevant is a Must

    Summary:

    The role of the Senior Database Administrator involves ensuring the database environment is well-architected and maintained to enhance system performance, ensure high availability, and disaster recovery. Collaboration with Development Operations teams is crucial for enforcing database design and coding standards to align with long-term architecture goals.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supporting engineering teams, conducting research, documentation, and mentoring.
    • Designing and overseeing secure, high-performing cloud environments.
    • Installing, configuring, and managing SQL servers and related services.
    • Ensuring data backup, security, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
    • Implementing regular database backups to meet recovery point objectives (RPO).
    • Performing routine maintenance tasks such as re-indexing and integrity checks for all databases.
    • Setting up custom dashboards, alerts, and reports utilizing SSIS/SSRS/PowerShell.
    • Monitoring, identifying, and resolving SQL Server issues.
    • Deploying database change scripts provided by different departments.
    • Establishing and enforcing standards, providing guidance to developers, and mentoring team members.
    • Participating in 24/7 on-call support when required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Proficiency in independent project management.
    • Advanced expertise in SQL Server (MySQL, SQL Azure).
    • Skills in Cloud platforms (AWS, EC2, RDS) and scripting languages (SSIS, SSRS, PowerShell).
    • Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, and commitment to continuous learning.
    • Familiarity with standard IT practices and Windows systems.
