    Manager, International Development - kolkata, India - Teach For India

    Position Summary

    Teach For India (TFI) is looking to hire an International Development Manager to join its team in India (specific location flexible within the 8 cities where TFI has operations). This role is designed to support the fundraising and advocacy efforts of Teach For India's non-profit entity in the United States, Teach For India US (TFIUS), based in New York City. TFIUS raised over $750,000 in the calendar year 2022, and over $1.1M in calendar year 2023, and is growing rapidly.

    The Manager will serve as Teach For India US's primary point of contact in Teach For India and provide dedicated support in fundraising operations and donor stewardship. The Manager will report to the Executive Director (ED) of Teach For India US and also work closely with the Development team in India. Additionally, the Manager will work closely with the Teach For India US Board of Directors, and other Teach For India vertical heads to aggregate, review, and prepare deliverables for the United States fundraising market. Due to the nature of this role supporting operations in the United States, regular evening calls, and rare early morning hours will be required for video meetings.

    Considering Teach For India US is in its growth phase, in addition to playing a role in fundraising operations, the International Development Manager will have a large scope to contribute towards setting up long-term operational systems for Teach For India US, systems for collaboration of Teach For India & Teach For India US, and contribute to Teach For India US's organizational learning and culture.

    Responsibilities

  • Donor Stewardship and Donor Communications (40%) In collaboration with the ED, develop and manage the annual donor stewardship calendar for all Teach For India US donorsLead grant proposals and grant reporting for Teach For India US institutional donors in coordination and support from the Teach For India Development teamLead collaboration and planning of program immersion (classroom visits) for Teach For India US donors, prospects, and board members in IndiaCollaborate with the team in organizing awareness-building events and donors events in the USSupport the Teach For India CEO, Teach For India US ED, and Teach For India US board members in donor meeting preparationsIn collaboration with the Teach For India Development team and the ED, craft strategic pitches for donorsPromote the impact of Teach For India's work by collaboratively capturing and developing stories and other short narratives in all forms of donor communicationsTake independent ownership of certain elements of the stewardship calendar like regular donor newsletters, program updates to groups of donors, etc.Maintain the Info & Communications email accounts of Teach For India US and direct queries strategically
  • Fundraising Operations (30%) Lead the fundraising data strategy and fundraising back-end operations for TFIUSLead the transition of donor data to salesforce and set the foundation for long-term donor data quality and maintenance Ensure prompt and regular updates and maintenance of the Salesforce/ Bloomerang database of US-based prospects, leads, and donorsLead the gift-processing/cash-collection process
  • Teach For India US Board and Board committees (20%) Support the ED in planning, executing and partially facilitating the board meetings, and board committee meetingsSupport ED, the board chair and the Vice Chair in reaching board meeting objectivesSupport ED in leveraging the board and the board members to meet organizational and fundraising goalsDiligently manage board meeting minutes
  • Donor/Prospect Research (5%) Conduct research on new and existing donors in partnership with the board members and the ED to identify motivations and barriers to contributing to our organization and potential levers to deepen their connection to and support of our work
  • Other Teach For India US Operations (5%) Maintain Teach For India US's knowledge management system (G-Suite)Support website updating and maintenanceSupport maintenance and growth of Teach For India US Social media channels
  • Other Teach For India US organizational commitments Leverage Teach For India US's growth stage and regularly capture, and process organizational learnings in partnership with the EDBe the representative of Teach For India US in Teach For India Development spaces to enable smoother collaboration between both, identify key strategic topics and issues to partner withSupport Teach For India US in furthering other Teach For India organizational priorities such as contributing to recruitment in the US and mobilizing alumni in the US as neededEngage in ongoing growth and developmentParticipate in agile work and projects, as assigned

  • As a Manager at Teach For India Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities.Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply.Supporting key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, and Movement Building.

  • Graduate in any field
  • 2+ years of professional experience
