System Design:

MEP planners collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to design MEP systems that meet the project requirements and comply with relevant codes and standards.

They create detailed plans and specifications for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components, considering factors such as energy efficiency, sustainability, and safety.

Coordination: MEP planners coordinate the layout and installation of MEP systems with other disciplines to ensure that they integrate seamlessly into the overall building design. They may use building information modeling (BIM) software to detect clashes and conflicts between different systems and resolve them proactively.

Cost Estimation: MEP planners prepare cost estimates for MEP systems, including materials, labor, and equipment. They work closely with project managers and estimators to develop accurate budgets and ensure that MEP designs are cost-effective and within budget constraints.

Scheduling: MEP planners develop schedules for the design, procurement, and installation of MEP systems, taking into account project milestones and deadlines. They coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to sequence work activities and ensure that MEP installations align with the overall construction schedule.

Quality Assurance: MEP planners oversee the quality assurance process for MEP systems, conducting inspections and tests to verify compliance with specifications and standards. They may review shop drawings, submittals, and samples to ensure that materials and equipment meet the project requirements.
